if I lied to a murderer about the location of my family, that would probably be the morally superior action to take.
Are you a liar at that moment, or a spiritual leader of your family, your first duty.
Or one could argue, that if you had enough faith, you could tell the murderer, and then God would take care of Him for you.

Re: A good show
So, the Christian who takes the Gospels as literal and inerrant truth and another Christian who does not take the Gospels as literal and inerrant truth are giving me the same message?
How do you figure?

I think the expression was "poor in spirit". Its kind of an spiritual stupidity as opposed to an intellectual one.

I think riverrat was clear, though, when he said that people with enough faith could go ahead and tell the murderer the location of thieir family and let God take care of things.

hail the conquering Kant. I never really did like this guy, but then he never really liked Hume.
It is from him that we get this whole do what's right becasue it is the right thing to do, and the right thing to do is that upon which the world will still work. IOW, if you're about to commit suicide and happen to wonder if it is the right thing to do, ask this: if everyone commited suicide, would the world still work? If no, it is the wrong thing, if yes, it is the right thing.
He also does not place a distinction as to being more moral or more right. In other words, he would consider you immoral becasue you lied. You should have told the murderer the location of your family. This is why I don't like him.
I just realized that I was trying to argue your point, when in fact I'm in agreement with you. Go figure and go stupidity.

Mod breaks all the commandments, without getting out of his chair
You can do the test here
So - here it goes, the why Mod has broken all ten commandments:
1. "You shall have no other gods before Me."
Apparantly I've broken this one because I haven't always put God first in my life. I'm not sure that's accurate. I'm pretty sure I've broken the commandment in perfectly legitimate ways, by putting other gods before YHWH, for example...I'm doing it right now.
2. "You shall not make for yourself any idol."
Apparantly having a 'personal belief' via private revelation is idolatry, so I'm out of luck here.
3. "You shall not take the name of God in vain."
Jesus Christ, this is Godamned stupid. Yep, break this one all the time. I'm fairly sure that this commandment is misunderstood.
4. "Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy."
No brainer, whatever day the Sabbath is, I treat like the others. Perhaps I treat all days with equal holiness but I don't think that counts.
5. "Honor your father and your mother."
I'm not breaking this one whilst sat here, but I was a teenager once.
6. "You shall not murder."
Apparantly, according to Comfort et al, I've broken this commandment. "1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him."
7. "You shall not commit adultery."
I've looked on plenty of people with lust in my heart and had pre-marital sex.
8. "You shall not steal."
9. "You shall not lie."
10. "You shall not covet."
Yup broken those in my time. As I sit here, apparantly I have broken every one. OK, what's next?
Apparantly, everyone has sinned, a dilemma. Then comes the crux:
Isn't it true that every time you lied, stole, or lusted, etc., you knew it was wrong?
No, I didn't. Apparantly though it should scare me that I've sinned against an entity I don't believe exists, which makes me an enemy of said entity. Fortunately though, He paid my 'fine' by sacrficing Himself on the cross, that isn't good enough though and I still have to put Jesus on and desire no sin etc. It's the classic Dark Ages conversion method. Convert or burn in hell for eternity.

Isn't this whole statement counter productive?
Is statement really logical?

often. And you?
OMG, when I was young I lied way too much, so I could get away with things. I still lie, but try not too. I got it down to a bare minimun.
But what does that make us?

Re: A good show
In where? All I saw in the flick was a Parody of the Gospel, far more burlesque than documentary.
The only thing that the flims produced by that group could ever do is turn folk away from Christianity.
