Ry Cooder is amazing. He is probably the best of the living slide guitarists. In addition, some of the work he did with Ali Farka Toure is simply fantastic. I have some of that on as we write.

Some? Most is great. Particularly if you can get a chance to visist the LOC. They have many of the old recordings that were made during the WPA projects in the 30's. Lot's of them have never been compiled or released.
​
Back when I was in High School we used to make pilgrimages down to DC to spend the day listening in their little booths to some of the music. It's simply amazing.

John R, Hoss Allen & Gene Nobles. There was also WWVA out of Wheeling WEST By-GOD Virginia. And DC hosted several great Jazz and R&B stations.
