about being banned: duhhhh...what the heck does that matter? Its not like you can just uhhh GET ANOTHER ACCOUNT or anything, in like 5 MINUTES. duhhhh As a former admin, I was able to track down a persons IP address as a counter-measure to people who have been banned, but then tried to sneak in through the back door.
And, people are getting too personal on here Yes. So just try and keep yourself clean as best you can. “There is something which unites magic and applied science while separating both from the 'wisdom' of earlier ages. For the wise men of old the cardinal problem had been how to conform the soul to objective reality, and the solution had been knowledge, self-discipline, and virtue. For magic and applied science alike the problem is how to subdue reality to the wishes of men: the solution is a technique; and both, in the practice of this technique, are ready to do things hitherto regarded as disgusting and impious" -C.S. What if they made another email address for themselves? Well, you could always immolate yourself and then find out if its possible or not. I'm just telling you that some people have tried it while being suspended and have been caught which called for their banishment.
And, does that mean youre admitting to being a hacker?? I couldn't hack my way out of a wet paper bag. I'm as close to being computer illiterate as anyone I know. “There is something which unites magic and applied science while separating both from the 'wisdom' of earlier ages. And, does that mean youre admitting to being a hacker?? no, admins have access to a poster's IP address as a rather standard feature on every board. in most cases, it's relatively easy to tell if two screen names belongs to one person because the IP will be the same. i'd imagine there are the occassional confusing instances. for instance, brennakimi used to post from my house and vice-versa.

Well what if the person was using a library computer? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA got you there, now didnt I? Yeah, you sure did. Are you going to drive to a Minnesotan library when you live in Kansas just to change it? If you were willing to go through that much trouble, I would just unban you for it. In any case, this really isn't a thread. You are just declaring observations. You don't understand why people that have spent a considerable amount of time might have vested interests in the affairs of the forum. Well, I can't help you out with that since you're a n00b. “There is something which unites magic and applied science while separating both from the 'wisdom' of earlier ages. Are you going to drive to a Minnesotan library when you live in Kansas just to change it? That's hardly necessary, Juggs. If I were so inclined, I have access to 3 different academic libraries (there are 3 schools in town), 1 public library and 1 work library. I wouldn't even have to leave the house, tho. There are anonymous public proxy servers that hide one's IP.

Then I guess my illiteracy is worse than I thought.

Easiest way is to do an ip release.

I wouldn't even have to leave the house, tho. There are anonymous public proxy servers that hide one's IP. frankly, in the past, most of the banned people either haven't been smart enough or determined enough to figure that out. we used to use proxy servers in high school to circumvent our county's intrusive firewall (it got in the way of useful stuff). it was sort of a pain. really, then, it becomes a cat-and-mouse game of banning particular proxy servers.

Easiest way is to do an ip release. eh, not so fast. internet providers in a specific area use specific ranges of ip's. for example (using the meaningless home ip), the providers might cover 192.168.1.xx to 192.168.50.xx. usually ip-bans are somewhat blanketted because your address will be assigned based on how you're connected to server. on dial-up, this can change pretty frequently. on dsl/cable, it might change when you do a reset. it might not, depending on how your local ISP works. not too clear on the details. so releasing and renewing your ip might get you aroung the very weakest of ip-bans.
