Prayers going with you
and be yourself, whoever that is. You also might want to take a look at Gene Robinson's page.
If you think telling Mom was tough ...
I wish you all the best in the coming years and that you will have the strength to withstand any initial criticism.

Ignore the Bigotted posts
Taylor, as a Christian I applaud and support you regardless of your sexuality. Gay or straight, just try to be the best person you can be. Please ignore those posts from Christians here who seem to condemn you, the God they have created is but a small, picayune devil that enjoys tormenting folk. Their God is more like heat rash than something to be feared or worshiped.
If you get a chance, get in touch with Gene Robinson through the link I supplied back in Message 6. He really is a man of God and will completely understand what you are now going through. Who knows, you might even be able to help him carry his cross.
The world today is filled with bigots and unfortunately, many of them are Christians. In fact many of the most vocal are Christians. If though, you wish to try to continue exploring being a Gay Christians, there are resources that can help you.
As mentioned above, there is Gene Robinson who is the Bishop of NH and openly gay in a long term relationship.
There is also The Christian Alliance for Progress
and
Katherine Jefferts Schori who is the Primate of the Episcopal Church in the US and is very supportive of the problems faced by the Gay community.

Your pastor is way off in left field.
I know that this is a sensitive issue in many circles, both Christian & non-Christian. However, Scripture is clear that God hates homosexuality (sin) and loves the sinner (all of us) (Rom. 1:18-27; Eph 5:3) . So our prayers should defintely be geared towards these people come to an encounter with Jesus.
Your pastor is 100% wrong. Screw the encounter with Jesus, that is unimportant and irrelevant, pointless and worthless.
What you should be praying for is that those people get the civil rights they deserve, that they get all of the protections of marriage should they decide to enter into such a contract and that folk like Pastor Bridgeforth get a hearty Dope Slap to remind him that his email is nothing but sanctioning bigotry.
The city he fine but his immortal soul is in great danger.

Re: Your pastor is way off in left field.
I am sorry jar, but I believe Jesus (not religion) can change people, for the better.
Homosexuals don't need to be changed for the better. They need folk like your Pastor out working to get them their God Given Rights.
All that sounds like to me, is that you have never had an encounter with Jesus, so I guess you would think that way, as I once did.
And once again the classic Christian Communion of Bobble-heads defense. I had the encounter and Jesus said "Tell riVeRraT to get marriage rights for my Gay Sheep and to tell his pastor to stop persecuting me."

Re: Impartial advice
I could say, however, that both are instances of sexual immorality, but, if you are a non-believer, saying that will be largely ineffectual.
As a Christian believer I also find your assertion ineffectual and ridiculous.
I could say that both are aberrant. But first I would need to know what your beliefs are concerning nature.
You can say most anything you want.

Re: The mysteries of life
I only ask because the same people that get upset at drawing parallels between beastiality and homosexuality are often the same people that have no qualms drawing parallels between animal sexuality and human sexuality.
There is a great difference between bestiality and homosexuality, but that is also irrelevant. The only problem with bestiality is that under our laws, beasts cannot show informed consent.
But it is one of the arguments trotted out by the Christian Communion of Bobble-heads as though it had any validity.

what homosexuals can do
There is a lot of crap talk about homosexuality, but the facts are that there really isn't anything homosexuals can't do that heterosexuals can.
Homosexual folk hold down jobs, earn money, care for children, can even have children. This has been true since the beginning. They are creative, productive, and pretty much indistinguishable from heterosexuals.
In older societies the homosexual men could hunt, could farm, could fish, could forage. They could build shelters, dig ditches, tell stories around the campfire.
The homosexual women could cook, could weave, could make clothing, pottery, help raise children, teach children.
The social advantage in more primitive societies would be reduced competition for mates and so a society with a higher percentage of homosexual members might have an advantage over a similar society with fewer homosexuals.

Its not an arbitrary law, Jar. But, I digress since we've been over this before.
Care to start a thread on bestiality and see if you can support that assertion? Or is this simply more of the Christian Communion of Bobble-Heads Dogma?

Now you are making shit up, like in your Bush's stupid war thread.
How come your encounter with Jesus is valid and mine is "made up"?
