FOolish physicalities
I prayed to God last night and He told me to tell Prophex to take a science degree
Science is meaningless, and nothing can be gained from it, besides results that are in turn, helpful in the physical realm. If only people could know that this means nothing in comparison with eternity. An amazing philosopher named Socrates talked of, in his day, great studiers of the observable world, what we would call a scientist of modern day, who made great progress in his/her field. Socrates brushed aside the issues of science, and the physical realm as if they were not there. I wish I could do that. His thoughts in an excerpt from "The Story of Philosophy":
quote:
There had been philosophers before him, of course: strong men like Thales and Heraclitus, subtle men like Parmenides and Zeno of Elea, seers like Pythagoras and Empedocles; but for the most part the had been physical philosophers; they had sought for the physis or nature of external things, the laws and constituents of the material and measurable world. That is very good said Socrates; but there is an infinitely worthier subject for philosophers than all these trees and stones, and even all those stars; there is the mind of man. What is man, and what can he become?
SO why study something so finite, and worthless, when I can seek truth in philosophy, and the good book?

The ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in?
In your head, in your mouth, in your soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both grow old.
Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I hope so.

Hi, prophex. I'm curious about your view on this point.
Socrates, the "good book," man--all these are physical. Are they not then foolish, too? If you believe God created them all, then why did God create all this foolishness?
But most of all, I wonder what great truths about man and what he can become did Socrates discover?

They are not physical, they are spiritul, ideas, and souls.
God created the world, what is an illusion to truth now due to the fall.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Some of the best philosophers studied science first, and then went into philosophy.

A little.
What does the Socratic Method say about the mind of man and what he can become?

It is the search about the mind of man. He used it to find truth within himself.

Brilliant men agree with my ideas. Or thought of them before me. I can quote them, to show you that I am not alone in my thoughts on the world, and evolution. Do you think that the philosophers of Ancient Greece took evolution seriously when it was introduced? Nope. Science, or the study of the natural world, physis, does not hold significance to me, to destiny, or to God.
The world is illusory
Brahman alone is real
