All I can say is, that damn liberal media is fucking nonexistent.
I didn't know that there were huge crowds protesting president elect Bush's motorcade as he was going to his inauguration ceremony. I didn't know his limo was pelted with eggs. I didn't know that at least half a dozen members of the house of representatives (most from the mostly African American districts in Florida who's votes weren't counted) stood up and formally objected, in writing, the inauguration of GWB. I didn't know that GWB continued on to his photo op in the elementary school after being informed that the first plane hit the WTC. I didn't know that after an aide told him that the second plane had hit and that the country was under attack, he sat there, stupidly, doing nothing, for another seven minutes. It's just so fucking wrong.

In fairness, these two have been floating around the news outlets for a while now. Do you know when they were fist reported, and by whom?

Not offhand, and I'm not saying that the "liberal media" is anything but a myth. But I'm pretty sure they've been pretty much public consumption for some time.

I'm not at all sure that shows anything anyway.
Once the attack happened a variety of actions began. The first is an analysis of what is going on and a plane for what steps to take next. To say that the President simply sat dumbfounded for seven minutes is absurd. The fact that he went on with what he was doing is not indicative that other actions, descisions and developments were not also going on. Aslan is not a Tame Lion |

I suppose I could be mean and say that as GWB's job is simply to look good for the photo-ops and not to actually make any decisions, cutting out of that grade school gig early would have been a dereliction of his duties.
But I will be more fair and admit that if I were president in that situation, I'm not sure whether I would not have continued reading to the kids myself, so as not to give a sense of panic. After all, despite the nationalist, Islamophobic hysteria this was a terrorist (read criminal) act, not a full scale invasion from an occupying force. Not to say that this decision isn't a mistake -- just a mistake that I could have made myself. By the way, Dan is right. The grade school thing has been in the liberal media (I'm speaking of the true liberal wing of the media, like The Nation) for a while. The eggs pelting the limo is new to me, though. Did that really happen? Here? In Amerika?

To criticize Bush for not taking action after the first plane hit the WTC is totally ridiculous. At that point, it still could have been an accident.
After the second plane hit, we knew it was an attack. At that point, our jets were in the air and we were mobilizing to prevent further attacks. I believe I'd sit there a few minutes too to wait for more intelligence to come in so I could make the best possible decisions. Oh, and Mike won't get one red penny from me. Ever. Now, I might watch a pirated copy of his movie, but he will never make any money from me. Verzem

Bush supposedly visited Ireland this weekend. I have an Irish friend that was back there on holiday -- he said that he was going to participate in the demonstrations against him and the war in Iraq. Anyone here actually watch the "liberal" media here in the U.S.? Did the "liberal" media make any mention of the demonstrations?

and I'm not saying that the "liberal media" is anything but a myth. Of course it's a myth... to liberals.

Yup. Just like Creationism is a myth... to evolutionists.
And, y'know, anyone else who likes to have some facts backing up an idea before they call it something other than a myth. And, y'know, anyone else who likes to have some facts backing up an idea before they call it something other than a myth. Yeah, except the evidence that the majority of people in the print and television news media are usually on the left end of the political spectrum has been demonstrated numerous times through polls etc. So your comparison is completely wrong. It isn't myth vs reality, it's perception of reality. You missed my point entirely. To conservatives, an overall leaning towards liberalism, however slight it may be, is still simply 'liberal' - hence 'liberal media.' To people who consider themselves liberals, the media does not seem liberal, it seems correct or not liberal enough. Hence Fox News is a conservative propaganda machine.

Ah. "polls, etc."
I'm sorry for having doubted you. "Egos drone and pose alone, Like black balloons, all banged and blown On a backwards river the infidels shiver in the stench of belief. You're going to make me back that up?? !$%#@$% Jack Kirby hater!
Forget it, I'm not getting embroiled in this argument. I concede. You're right, news media organizations have no bias whatsoever. They are neutral, objective, and personal interest never impacts how the news is represented - unless it is Fox News or evil right wing conservatives.
