Well, of course I feel superior. I'm quite a sexist, you know, so I know I'm better than women. I'm quite a racist, you know, so I know I'm better than black people. I'm quite a homophobe, so I know I'm better than gay people. I'm quite a christian, you know, so I know I'm better than everybody else who's not a christian in the world.
So, now that we have settled one issue, what's next?

Re: This ain't coffee, it's warm brown water.
I responded your rant with a rant. Isn't that what this thread is about? Random rants from deep down years of anger from oppression? Frankly, I'm sick and tired of seeing women in positions of power. I'm also sick and tired of black people being treated as equal. They ain't no equal to me. The bible specifically says that women should STHU in the church. I mean, doesn't anyone care about god's laws anymore?

Re: This ain't coffee, it's cold brown water.
ICANT, are you trying to be ironic? Because I can't tell if you intended or not to be ironic.
T4C even quoted the whole chapter for you. Paul didn't say women couldn't speak in tongues in the church. He said they couldn't speak at all in church. What part of the following quote don't you understand?
quote:
As in all the congregations of the saints, 34women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.
Even if Paul was only forbidding women to speak in tongues in churches... you figure out the rest.
But clearly, according to the texts, Paul was clearly referring to women speaking at all in church. What part of "it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church" don't you understand? Paul didn't say "it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in tongues in the church".
You're a christian. You should really really read your own bible rather than make us atheists read them for you.
This thread is about people's arrogance and inability to read and write correctly. So, either you are just trying to be ironic to be funny or you really can't read.
To Hill Billy, how is what Paul wrote any different from "STHU in church" aside from the wordings?

Who is talking.
Paul
What are they talking about.
Speaking in tongues. And also briefly reciting old laws on women speaking in the church.
To whom are they talking.
People thousands of years ago... aka savages.
Why are they talking.
He was taking drugs?
When or about what time are they talking.
A couple thousand years ago.
What's your point?

Ok, to be fair, how would you interpret that particular chapter? This should be good.

You think because I am a creationist I am stupid.
No, I don't think you're stupid. I think you are self-deluding. There's a big difference. Some of the self-deluding people I've met were also some of the smartest people I've ever known.
Taz the Bible is my life, just like some of these people science is their life.
You have no idea how many times I've heard that one from people who didn't know jack about the bible.

Re: And now....a word from our sponsor.
I started a thread on this here so you no longer need to bring your topic off course. Take your explanation there once it has been promoted and we can discuss about it there.

I'm curious. What about the Phelps Klan and how they have been for years holding protests at people's funerals holding signs like "Thank god for dead soldiers" and "god hates fags"?

Then you guys have been arguing against a strawman, because nobody has even remotely suggested that people who lack knowledge do not have less value as human beings than people who are more educated.
All we are saying is that the issue is one of common sense. Would you hire a certified engineer to design a bridge or would you hire any regular folk you pulled off the street?
He/she is experiencing the other end of a superior attitude.
I would say that the experience is purely delusional. Again, have you ever observed or heard of any particular person or persons holding a rally to push for a law that would increase in value of personhood of people who are more educated? Unfortunately, we don't see the same behavior, or lack of behavior, from the other end of the spectrum.
I also am experiencing being on the other end of the stick in the "e=mc^2 thread. A self acknowledged uneducated (in this field) willing to learn regular Joe. Have a look at the superior attitude. Honestly, Trixie, you were talking to me as if my goldfish had just died. It reminded me of maggie thatcher, no offense intended. Bloody oranges? Ha ha ha
I'm sorry, but how am I supposed to take you seriously?
There's no superior attitude there. You asked a question. Someone answered it. You asked it again. Someone answered it again. Apparently, this went on 31 times and you still don't understand the real implications and value of that equation. What you see in that thread is frustration coming from our end, not feelings of superiority.

I'll try and make it simple.
A certified engineer is, in fact, just regular folk.
If you think the way I do.
Do you disagree?
I couldn't understand your answer. Are you saying you'd hire anybody off the street to design a bridge? Or are you saying everybody has an engineering degree?
