Who the Fundies will come after first -- NOBODY!
anglagard writes:

This may not be a comforting thought, but if history is any guide, including the history of this forum, you are very likely to be correct in this observation.

What fundamentalists consider 'heretics' seem to always be considered a greater threat than any external religion. Look at all those witchburnings and the Catholic vs Protestant warfare that took place while the Ottomans besieged Vienna.

I guess people like myself who adhere to the numerically smaller 'outsider' beliefs will be second. Larger competing religions will be third, then Athiests, Catholics, other Protestants, then finally each other.

Some of you people are soooo deluded! When are you going to get it in your thick heads what true Biblical fundies teach, believe and do? We do, teach, think and believe what Jesus and the apostles did, taught, thought and believed, that you do violence to no man, even to the point that you suffer for your testinony, your faith and your Lord Jesus Christ.

The violence folks are the non-Biblical fundies, i.e. the Muslims, murdering millions in our day right now, the Buddhists fundies (Burma for example) who imprison, kill and severely persecute Christians, the secularist commie fundies who murderdered over a hundred millions last century, the dark age Catholic popes and bishops who murdered and persecuted scores of thousands in the inquisitions, the Indian Hindus who imprison and persecute the Christians of India et al. And guess who the primary victims of all these violent ideologies are: It's the Biblical fundie Christians. THEY ARE THE VICTIMS, FOLKS, NOT THE KILLERS AND PERSECUTORS!

Btw: Who is it that gives, sacrifices, risks their lives for and loves the persecuted and the oppressed whom the non-Biblical fundies persecute and oppress? IT'S THE FUNDIE CHRISTIANS LIKE VOM (VOICE OF THE MARTYRS), WORLD VISION, HOPEGIVERS INTERNATIONAL, FRANKLIN GRAHAM'S SAMARITAN'S PURSE, JERRY FALWELL'S BENEVOLENT OUTREACH PROGRAMS, ET AL, ET AL, ET AL..............

I don't often agree with you, Hoot Mon, but I gotta love you! Whether or not I agree, I make an effort to read your stuff. As in much of what you post, this one is well put and makes good sense.

Re: Who the Fundies will come after first
Sorry Buz but it is ALWAYS the Fundy Christians here that have threatened me. It was not an Atheist or Agnostic or Muslim that said I should be taken out and shot but a Fundy Christian.

And violence is but the smallest of the threats from Fundamentalism and its Cult of Ignorance. The greater threat is its attack on morality and the US Constitution, its bigotry and intolerance.

Re: Who represents who?
Fundamentalists of any stripe are a threat. I never said ignore the Muslim extremists but quite frankly, they are no where near as big a threat as the Christian Cult of Ignorance.

In the face of mounds of evidence to the contrary, can I ask how in the world you could surmise this? What exactly makes the "Christian Cult of Ignorance" more of a threat than Islamofascists? I guess I'd also have to ask what constitutes a "threat" in your mind as well.

That is a good question even if throwing in "Islamofascists" does make me laugh.

The threat from the Christian Cult of Ignorance is in teaching folk not to think for themselves, in teaching them to accept indoctrination on "authority", in breeding a population unable to separate knowledge from belief, fact from fantasy.

The future depends on an educated voting population able to spot the conmen like almost all the Televangelists, particularly all those on the 700 Club and are part of Trinity Broadcasting. The Christian Cult of Ignorance threatens America and the whole Democratic system.

iano is simply typical of Fundies. And individually, they are not threatening, more pitiful than threatening.

The point is that the Fudies do regularly threaten violence. I do not see that from Atheists, Agnostics, Buddhists, Wiccans or Satanists.

Jerry Falwell does.

Pat Robertson does.

iano did.

And you try very hard to propagate ignorance which is an even bigger threat than the Islamic Terrorists or the violence and intolerance that is Fundamentalism.

Re: Who the Fundies will come after first
LOL

iano promoted having me shot.

Falwell and Robertson are always calling down destruction one some poor city or nation.

Robertson suggested a nuke for the State Department and that Venezuela's president should be killed.

Jerry Falwell on 9-11

"The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America, I point the finger in their face and say: you helped this happen."

On feminists:

"I listen to feminists and all these radical gals... These women just need a man in the house. That's all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. And they blew it and they're mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They're sexist. They hate men; that's their problem."

And just to show what an absolute FOOL he is:

Now, further evidence that the creators of the series intend for Tinky Winky to be a gay role model have surfaced. He is purple -- the gay-pride color; and his antenna is shaped like a triangle -- the gay-pride symbol.

and to show that he is absolutely supporting the Christian Cult of Ignorance:

I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!

Re: Who represents who?
That is a good question even if throwing in "Islamofascists" does make me laugh.

You find a group of people that want to kill you for no real reason humorous?

The threat from the Christian Cult of Ignorance is in teaching folk not to think for themselves, in teaching them to accept indoctrination on "authority", in breeding a population unable to separate knowledge from belief, fact from fantasy.

In what way do Christians "not think for themselves" for any one can turn on the television and be absolutely imbued by the nonsense in front of their wide eyes and stony faces? This fraudulent charge has always bewildered me about those of a secular persuasion, alleging that Christians are sheep when they seem to glibly overlook their own indoctrination like lemmings toppling over themselves in complete delusion.

I think an honest analysis of the common atheist would reveal that they view themselves as being among the upper crust of society. In contrast, they view a theist as somewhat of a scathing lunatic, bent on world domination through proselytizing. If you ask me, I think they constantly stroke each other’s ego in an attempt to show the world just how much more intelligent they are. They often go to great lengths to prove just how pragmatic they are, not easily being swayed anything in their unflinching resolve.

The future depends on an educated voting population able to spot the conmen like almost all the Televangelists, particularly all those on the 700 Club and are part of Trinity Broadcasting. The Christian Cult of Ignorance threatens America and the whole Democratic system.

Seriously, how many people, even among Christians, actually cite televangelists as a source of inspiration? TBN and CBN are losing a fan base at an exponential rate. There is no movement so large that its launching some assault against you. Consequently, I do see that in reverse as the Church is being assaulted more by the day. You have invented a Bogeyman, or allowed your "authorities" to believe in the big, bad Christian out to get you and you've completely neglected the actual threats. Interesting.

You are still misrepresenting what I say, as usual.
You find a group of people that want to kill you for no real reason humorous?

No, I find your use of "Islamofascists" down right funny.

It is Fundamentalists I fear, Muslim and Christian.

Again with the misrepresentations. Don't you folk ever get tired of trying to hide the pea in hope of fooling the audience?

I did not say Christians. I said the Christian Cult of Ignorance.

That is NOT all Christians but it certainly is ALL Biblical Literalists, YECs and ID supporters.

Watch closely folk. Did you see him palm the pea?

What does that have to do with anything? I am not an Atheist. I am a Christian speaking about other Christians.

You say that the Televangelists are in retreat, and if true that is a GOOD thing.

I see no assault on the Church though, none what so ever.

Hopefully though there will be an ever increasing growth of knowledge among Christians and they will continue to abandon the Christian Cult of Ignorance.

But before you leave folk, did you see him once more palm the pea, right in front of your noses.

NJ writes:

You have invented a Bogeyman, or allowed your "authorities" to believe in the big, bad Christian out to get you and you've completely neglected the actual threats. Interesting.

There it is folk.

"the word we are not supposed to use" for Jesus at its best.

Nowhere NJ did I "neglect" any threats. What I did say was that Ignorance is a far greater threat than Terrorism.

Don't you ever get tired of trying to con the audience?

Your documentation is?

Falwell and Robertson are always calling down destruction one some poor city or nation.

Your documentation is? Btw, Suggesting that calamity and destruction may be providential is Biblical. There's a whole lot in both the OT and NT in this regard that there comes a time of God's wrath which God himself, not Christian fundies brings upon nations via storms, earthquakes, pestilence and famine. Read about it in the OT prophet books and Revelation. That's not violence by Christians. That's violent judgement by God himself. For Christians like Robertson to suggest this is not a threat whatsoever by the man. It's a warning in love so as for folks to repent and prevent God's wrath for their own good.

jar writes:

Robertson suggested a nuke for the State Department and that Venezuela's president should be killed.

I'd have to see the documentation as to what vein Pat made the alleged State Dept suggestion. Not only that but you have no documentation whatsoever that fundie Christians are now persecuting as the nonbiblicalfundies are.

jar writes:

Just where is any violence here documented or threat of violence? It's all Pat's assessment of what has happened and his views on how he sees it. Nobody anywhere need fear the man Pat or any of his constituents. So he wants Christians running schools. LOL on that and if it were so, so what? It was that way for over a century in the early days of the Republic and nobody got killed.
