The Rankin Family can claim to be innovative apart from any American band as their style is Gaelic.
Tea Party is a class of their own.

I would say that these three are with out a doubt innovative and original. 2/3 of them I can only stand a couple songs however
Hardly an impossible feat, it all depends on ones personal taste. Given that half my cd collection is taken up by one band (Nine Inch Nails) I guess that my tastes tend to lean on the American side of the border.
ABE: Thanks for adding to the Canadian list Dr.Jones! I hesitated to add Avril Lavigne, Sum 41, and Nickleback as their huge popularity has prompted to making my ears bleed hearing them. But yes, they are Canadians
