Re: Back to reality
I'm looking foward to the Republican landside in 2 years.
A dispassionate look at the 2010 landscape will show you that republicans are likely to gain a handful of house seats, mostly the ones they lost this year due to presidential coattails.
But the democrats will pick up 1-3 senate seats as the Republicans again have the misfortune of defending more seats than the dems. Even the seats the dems are defending are pretty safe seats for the most part.
You could make an argument for 2012, especially if you are banking on Obama screwing up. The dems are in a much more precarious position in the senate then and unless the reps are stupid enough to run a canidate like McCain, they will have a presidential canidate with coattails to pick back up some of their more traditional house seats.
Enjoy your 4 year exile. See you on the pavement in 2012.

Does the Military Know Best?
Imo, the military knows better who's innocent and who's not. What would be the military's motivation for rounding up innocents?
I'll let the others, who have amply demonstrated how blatantly un-American this is, continue to deconstruct it.
I'll just point out simply that your vaunted military has already RELEASED many prisoners out of Gitmo that it had picked up wrongly often after holding them for many years. And this was under Former President Bush.
So if the military knows best, why did they already admit that they made mistakes and wrongly imprisoned people?
Edited by Jazzns, : No reason given.

All the more reason to remember Franklin's words.
Franklin was addressing fellow Americans who never ever dreamed of encountering foreign fanatics who were vicious enough to purposely blow themselves and as many others as possible into bloody blobs for the cause of an alleged foreign god.
What a distorted version of history. The brits were quite brutal to the colonists during the Revolutionary War. The signers of the Declaration of Independence has just as much to fear if not more concerning their life and limb as anyone facing a terrorist today. It was their opposition and bravery in the face of everything that made those men great.
You never responded to me concerning Gitmo. If the military knows so much more about who should be locked up, why have they already released many innocent people? They have already admitted that they are in fact holding guys who are totally innocent but that they cannot release back into their own countries for ethical reasons because they would be imprisoned there and tortured even more.
