I haven't any idea why.
Spelling is so easily managed with Google/Firefox/etc. spellcheckers that it's inexcusable. And grammar? Creos have this habit of misusing 50 cent words in an effort to make their posts sound "authoritative". It's clumsy and just godawful to read. Elmer is a perfect example of this sort of creo jabberwocky. It reminds me of the Black Nationalist parodies that Eddie Murphy (on SNL) and Damon Wayons (on In Living Color) used to do.

Many of these posts are condescending and infer inferiority. Awfully hard to avoid when debating a creo. Abysmal ignorance of even basic biology (Juggs recently insisted that building a single protein requires all 20 amino acids!) is a goldmine to the sarcastic among us.
When in fact, the organised trained mind rarely understands anything outside of it's way of thinking. What on earth are you talking about? I am trained in biochemistry and perfectly capable of informed political discussion. I am trained in video production and perfectly capable of discussing the finer points of sculpture. Seriously, dameeva. You've over reached here.

How many times have we had to correct Creationists who even use scientific terms incorrectly after having them explained to them in the same thread, let alone all of the threads before that? Yes, Rahvin, YES. Juggs is infamous for just that. As are a bunch of other creos. Actually, now that I think about it, it's the rare creo who acknowledges his error!
When speaking from a position of superior knowledge of science to one whose proficiency in that arena is less than that of a teenage child and who yet purports to be able to refute virtually the entire body of scientific theory, condescension is inevitable. I honestly couldn't care less if you're offended by such a tone. I'm offended that people try to argue against science from ignorance, and believe that such ignorance is a good thing. Ditto.

You refer to my proposition as 'silly' whilst quoting a fictional king from a movie. Huh? The character in the movie may have been fictionalized, but both Anna and the King were real.
Prince Maha Mongkut was born on October 18, 1804 in the kingdom of Siam (now called Thailand). His father, Buddha Loetla Nabhalai, became the king of Siam (King Rama II) when Mongkut was five. Mongkut's mother was Queen Sri Suriyendra. He arranged for them to receive English lessons from Christian missionaries, but the Siamese women were bored by their preaching. So Mongkut's consul in Singapore hired another woman, Anna Leonowens, to teach the king's wives and children. She arrived in Bangkok in 1862.
Royalty.nu - King Mongkut of Siam (Rama IV) and Anna Leonowens - The Real "King And I" Yet another example of creo ignorance.

Please, pick one that you think is important and propose a thread on it. We would love to learn. Second! I'll keep an eye out for that PNT!

As far as I can remember this was a fictional movie about a primitive thinking king who needed a governess to open his heart. It was not a documentary using actual transcripts. Message 160.

Isn't it common knowledge that Scopes was on trial for breaking a law forbidding the teaching of evolution ? And that he lost? Both the trial and the appeal?
Obviously a strongly-held belief can still be a misconception, so can you please explain why this example referred to by Trixie in Just to add to what Percy said (Message 155) is not a misconception ? Heinrik. Listen to Paul. The vast majority of creo misconceptions that we see here are not "strongly held beliefs" -- they are "complete fabrications". Here is the original creo quote Trixie referenced:
Message 155.
The amino acid comment was a wry cynical perhaps comment suggesting that since the four amino acids that are used in the genetic code from the twenty or so that make up proteins in general are exclusively L form in the DNA structure base pairings, that is AGTC. Now if one were to substitute or attempt to substitute n amino acid whose form was dextro into the DNA it would never ever fit, work and code for a particular protein in the position or sequence necessary when such protein was made via the ribosome reading the mrna codon triplet and etc. I did not suggest it could be or should be attempted just that it would not work as an example of the absolute Levo form of the amino acids used in the genetic code AGTC. Priceless. Only someone completely ignorant of HIGH SCHOOL biology could assert that DNA is made of amino acids. This is typical creo babble. It has nothing whatsoever to do with belief.

RAZD taught me that neat trick.
Google "site: Trixie DNA amino acid" and you'll find the quote I posted. You could try "20 amino acid impossible" or something like that to track down the other post. Edited by molbiogirl, : No reason given.

He was found guilty at trial, but it was overturned on a technicality because the judge set the fine at $100 when statute required that the jury set any fine exceeding $50. My bad. I was thinking of the constitutional arguments posed by defense counsel. They lost on all 3.

You know, the US is falling behind many other countries in science education, and the vocal and influential religious people who embrace ignorance when it contradicts their religious beliefs have been a large part of the reason for this. They get on school boards. Let me make this clear. The U.S. is 33rd out of 34 re: belief in evolution as of 2006. Just above Turkey. TURKEY. Just below Cyprus. CYPRUS. Page not found | Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science The U.S. is 24th out of 29 re: science education as of 2004. Just above Portugal, Greece, Italy, Mexico. Just below Spain, Hungary, Poland, Luxembourg. USA TODAY Education - Math, Science and Technology And creos want to shove us further down.

Can you prove there is no god? Creationism ≠ god. Creationism is easily disproven.
Can you prove this theory E=MC2 This has nothing to do with either god or creationism.

Yes,hmm,I wonder what else science can't handle, surely not just "God" and "devil"? Science has nothing to do with gods/devils. There is no evidence of either. Therefore, science has no truck with em.

Really.Hmmm.Hardly seems worth the effort. I suggest you take a look at the handiwork of one of our infamous members, Brad McFall. Let's see what your highly evolved reading comprehension makes of something like this Message 1.
Ok,and I'm askin for one, now. An explanation of what? Your response makes no sense.
Please, for a one-liner to be sarcastic wouldn't it need to have some,oh,I don't know, maybe content? I suggest you tone down the snark. You seem to want only one thing -- to taunt Nator, goad her into an argument. Careful what you wish for, buster.
