I'm getting exactly the same. Usually my problems begin before the applet starts loading. This must be a problem with the chat facility, rather than users' puters or their ISPs.

Schraf - horse advice required....help!!!!

HELP!!
I can't get into chat. I get a grey box and when I hover my mouse over the edge I get a very brief message in the status bar which says
load:class Client not found It's happened before and seemed to sort itself out. Someone suggested it was an applet prob, but I don't have a clue! I can't find the bug reporting thread, at least not one that's open.

Hi Percy. I described the problem in Message 96 and RAZD suggested a different browser, but that made no difference. Last time the problem went away by itself. I have no idea what's going on.

OK, updated my Java and the only difference is that I get to the blank, grey box quicker! Still end up with load:class Client not found. Ho hum.

No, switched to broadband. Haven't been able to connect to chat ever since. Have tried to connect using explorer rather than my broadband browser, but no joy.

When I click on chat, I get to the stage where the grey box comes up. Normally something then starts to load, prob an applet, and the chat window pops up and I'm in. However, I stop dead at the wee grey box and nothing else happens. If I hover mouse over the edge of the grey bos I get this "load: class Client not found" It only appears for nanoseconds. As soon as the mouse pointer has passed the interface of the two colours the message disappears. To read it, I had to move the mouse back and forth for ages.
