This is to NJ and HM.You cannot compare homosexuality to pedophilia, necrophilia, or bestiality because the there is a BIG GAPING CHASM between them called LEGAL CONSENT!Get it thought your heads.Equal protection means the right for 2 CONSENTING individuals to enter into a legal contract. BY extension this means that those individuals must be capable of legal CONSENT.In pedophilia, the child cannot legally consent. Therefore the criminalizaiton of pedophilia is NOT against equal protection.In necrophilia and bestiality, the subjects cannot possibly give consent at all. Therefore people who wish to do this are NOT afforded equal protection.Children, dead people, and animals cannot be enjoined in a legal contract. Period.So please, for the sake of rational discussion and for the sake of perserving your integrity in this discussion. Please stop using these totally invalid comparisons!!

Maybe thats because they want to have the love of their life make decisions for them in the case they are indisposed rather than some family who may have rejected them because of their lifestyle.Maybe they simply want all the standard things that come along with marrige and to have them in a way that doesn't require them to call it something else for no reason other than to pacify bigots.Marriage is a practical matter as much as it is a social matter. There are good reasons to get married in this society and these people want to take advantage of that.

They do want to and they should be allowed to.The difference with polygamy is that you have to figure out how the contract is going to apply 1 to many or many to many situation. Things like custody of children, inheritance, etc are much more complicated issues legally.No such complication exists for pair bonding contracts. In order to get polygamy to work there needs to be some subsequent lawmaking to sort out the issues. The only thing holding back gay marriage is bigotry.

This is just about the most asinine thing I have ever heard anyone say about this topic.Not only is having sex not a requirement for marriage but I am pretty sure that most homosexual couples "consummate" all the time just like heterosexual couples.

In every single one of your examples there is a state interest in making the action illegal.We define as a society the act of copulating with dead people, children, and animals a form of rape or abuse. You seem to be arguing about some theoretical situation where we don't define those acts in this way. That has nothing to do with the fact that we as a society do not consider homosexual relationships to be rape or abuse. Some people like yourself may see it as sinful, but it is still the act of two consenting ADULTS.As for marrying kin. There is also a state interest in preventing that, namely public health.The more you argue in this vein the more you truly destroy your own position. Homosexual marriages have nothing to do with pedophilia, necrophilia, bestiality, or inbreeding. You are simply trying to make a case by association where there is none.
