Understanding GOD?
Arach, while I respect your scholarly pursuits of knowing God, I might ask you whether or not God can indeed be "figured out." I think there are a few seperate points in that sentence that may be worthy of consideration. First, Is the Bible GOD? Second, Is the Bible Christianity? Third, Is the goal to know GOD or to know as much as we can about GOD?

i think the first major step in my journey was realizing that the bible was simply a bunch of different peoples' opinions, revelations, and perceptions of deity, and not an actual representation of god himself, or his actions or personality. all of those takes need not be consistent, or even correct. but this is not a point that gets across easily here.

Do the Heathen Rage?
You seem to be implying that Christians are attacked here at EvC in some way. I have not found that to be the case. For example, going back over many threads I could not find an instant where anyone has raged against you for your beliefs. So the main question is, can you show any examples of "the Heathen Raging?"

Well I'm wonder if it really is pearls to swines and all that... As far as I can see all of the interactions from the christians here may lead to greater understanding but I've never seen any of the atheists shift from their basic positions. not an iota. In fact my interactions here tend to make more wary of christians (well american ones anyway) than anything else.

Well, I'm not sure that is or should be a goal anyway. If I were here to sway folk to Christianity the only possible way I can see where there is a chance of success is through example. It also IMHO, mistates the goal and purpose of Christ and his message. From the records we do have, he seems to have been concerned with behavior. If someone behaves in a Christ like manner, whether or not there is any belief or acknowledgement of Jesus, GOD or Christianity, the world will be a better place.

This is a great example.behavior, not ideology.
Find your recent admonition to MikeHager and recall your reason for admonishment. However, if you cannot see that Christians here are insulted on a regular basis, no kind of example will meet with your agreement. Request denied. You claim that Christians are being insulted. Yet when asked to provide examples, you refuse. PG, it's not your Christianity that is the issue, it's your total failure to even attempt to support any of your many charges and assertions.
