Since you've been gone, I have remained irrefutable, proved God exists, re-established my creationism and watched Buzsaw be martyred for our cause when he was permanently banned for no reason at all.
Welcome back.

You are entirely correct; however, brown does seem to be the color of choice. My guess is that it better facilitates the efforts of murderous fuckheads to manufacture enemies in the minds of their neanderthal drones...

All of that? Good lord (so to speak). Shame to hear Buz isn't around... as obtuse as he was, he sure as hell brought out the best in a lot of people by forcing them to collect and present their arguments, and then restate in a different way - over... and over... and over again....

Well, he's gone and soon I will be, because I'm just about done here, nothing much left to argue.
It's just a clash of two sets of very differently inclined ideological positions we have here in town.

Sounds like a cop-out to me... ideology does affect interpretations, but only at the point of flat-out denial can it affect cold hard facts. I'm curious what brought about the reversal in your thinking, and why you expect to stop debating soon. Are you going to set your mind in one mode of thinking and stop questioning anything, relying only your established preconceptions? Methinks you're awfully young to do that. Not that I'm much older

I'm sure that when we've consumed all the resources of the earth, and our society degenerates into bands of hunter-gatherers with blunt trauma weapons, we'll all pretty much believe the same (wrong) idea about where we came from. Until then, while we possess the sophistication, the ranting and raving will continue, and we will crawl ever closer to a better understanding of how we got here. Argument is integral to the process because it eliminates unfit ideas. Kinda like this other mechanism I once heard about.

I'm curious what brought about the reversal in your thinking, and why you expect to stop debating soon. Standardization of the evolving food chain pertaining to synchronization of baramins. I thought?did AND the three were possibly or BOTh three and two except for when I realized a third position was available; to seek out new civilizations, to go were no baramin has gone before --> the fence. Untill then, all bets/RULES are off untill the switch says on and then only then will the light go on not out. So yes, basically, I think evolution is a belief from a house of cards, which all are so-dependent upon investigative assumptions pertaining to uniformatarianism and the dependent mass of collective informations.#Sidelined, what did you have in mind that we haven't already argued? Wow.
I'm not convinced that the entirety of your post has a place in the English language. I have to say I'm surprised, confused, and a little disturbed by this direction. I suspect your ideas lack predictive power and would have trouble explaining these nagging speciation events that continue to occur in our lifetimes, let alone the whole prehistoric backdrop of species. But this isn't really the thread to start taking on those ideas... it's still nice to see your pixelated presence in some way. Maybe once I've collected myself, we can talk some more. And with that, I'm off to socialize... damn, do I ever love Fridays. cheers/ Jeff

who would like to see an Iraq "Great Debate" between Zephyr and Tal?
Z - Last fall you said you were going to vote against your commander in chief. I wonder how the "regular army" voted? If you are part of the full blown armed forces (not at all to belittle the National Guard), what are the inclinations to vote for or against GWB? Moose

I would sooner burn out my brain cells on the intracies of relativistic quantum gravity of the planck era than scuttle what little intellect I have left trying to ascertain the actual nature of women. But they sure are worth it.

Argh! I doubt I have the fortitude for a real Great Debate. Something in me always ends up going "f*ck 'em if they can't see it my way"!That's why I'll never be a star here
I would guess that two-thirds of my colleagues probably voted Republican and do so consistently, though that's just an educated WAG based on anecdotal evidence. It could be more, it could be less. I tend to avoid the topic, though. A very real part of my job is not to speak against anybody in the chain, even the political segment at the top. There was a top officer (thinking an admiral?) who got forcibly retired for speaking ill of Clinton - anyone remember that? It makes sense on one level, but it also makes people like me reluctant to have open discussions with co-workers even in casual settings away from the office. It's annoying some of the time, in that people are free to lend any amount of unqualified support to the current pres and bash his opponents (in office conversation, on email, etc) and there's usually no good way to respond. This policy, due to the largely conservative Republican culture in the armed forces, is even more evident when one of "our own" is in the top seat. There are definitely plenty of folks in the service who seem to operate on the assumption that everyone in the military is a die-hard Republican, and they are encouraged in this thinking by the fact that the exceptions are those who keep quiet at work. Never mind that Clinton gave me better raises than Bush has... the GOP is our official party and only a retard would vote for "the other guys". With that in mind, and because I really am disillusioned with both parties and politics in general, I don't even like to bring it up. To me, it's not worth the hassle as a lesser-of-evils voter to try to explain why I don't vote the party line. But I have run across a decent minority who lean the same way I do, and will say so if the subject comes up. OK, I think I've gone on long enough... if that was any clearer than mud, I'll be happy.... This message has been edited by AdminPhat, 04-30-2005 12:48 AM
