if everyone has to have certifications in everything they know about then most of the people on this thread would have to find other hobbies.

randman writes: Yes, this is true. I read a bit about the storm, here. What do you guys make of Hurricane Epsilon? It should have weakened being over cold water. It doesn't fit the models. Randman, from what I understand, the science of weather is always evolving and is yet not an absolute science. Whenever a ""model" is made, it is a prediction based on the typical storm.
randman writes: True. Here in Denver, there is often a local storm that appears as an upper level disturbance or some other unforseen occurrance. The forecasters say "Gosh, Folks...we didnt see this one coming!" My conclusion? Weather can STILL be unpredictable.
The storms defied the current models and we cannot yet explain their behaviour in certain areas. randman writes:
Yes...this is job security if you are a meteorologist!
Of course, it is a growing and learning area of science, but these 2 hurricanes were shockers, and they are trying to figure out how to incorporate their behaviour for future models. Mark Twain had a lot to say about the weather. Funny guy, that humorist! Speaking of funny guys, I am somewhat bemused by the comments being winged from all sides in this discussion. Since it was you that started the thread, Randman, I feel as if I must address you first. You start the thread by asking randman writes: You then get feisty rather quickly...it seems as if we were in third grade and I was the teacher What do you guys make of Hurricane Epsilon?I would have to put your desk over here and put Jars desk way over there! After everyone gives their "opinions" of Hurricane Epsilon, you then say that randman, referring to Jar writes: But since I started out in a manner threatening to him, he denies those same basic facts. Now.. there have been many random attacks on the person rather than the position in this discussion. To wit:
Grow up and start learning before mouthing off stupidity. Then you either can't read well or are lying. you can't act like a normal human being and discuss a news story without lying is this going to be yet another thread of vague silly sophomoric assertions of incredulity?
That was the post of a simpleton. This simply violates the spirit of our forum----attacking the person rather than the position is a NO NO! Oddly enough, Im leaving this thread alone only because our ratings need to go up and we could use a good mud-slinging thread....but maybe we should start a thread specifically for mud slinging and not "diss" each other in our nice little CoffeeHouse! Too much caffeine?? P.S. Hangdawg, im'na hafta break it down, yo! Basically, those were reactions to some rather absurd comments by jar and others as a result of their sensing some sort of ulteriour motive against their belief systems.
I pretty much started the thread just to hear what other people had to say, but had to deal with childish absurdity, as usual I might add, from jar.
May not fit the models of IDist, Creationists, Alien Abductees, Pyramidologists, readers of Ouija boards and other such groups, the it seems to fit the models used to predict it's path. I mean what was that all about. It wasn't even something controversial I had posted. I merely stated something anyone following this would have known, that this storms broke the models. But jar insists:
Actually, I do read and pay attention. Living where I do reading all the information from National Hurricane Center is a must. Every day is minimal but every update par for the course when there's a storm. These two storms were driven by exactly the same forces as every other hurricane, and fit well within the limits of all five of the different models used. Basically, jar started totally unreasonable attacks, completely unprovoked, and for no reason. He even admitted later that had he not thought I had some ulterior motive, he would have agreed with what I am saying. It's not wise to be so contentious, but at the same time, I have very little respect for a man that argues agaist facts he knows are true just because he is afraid of the agenda of the other person.

fine, let's look at what I said.
jar writes: May not fit the models of IDist, Creationists, Alien Abductees, Pyramidologists, readers of Ouija boards and other such groups, the it seems to fit the models used to predict it's path. So far since it's inception, the National Hurricane Center has published prdictions on the path of the hurricane extending out up top five days. If the hurricane did not follow the models that they use, then they would not have been able to publish those predictions. They did.

These two storms are no more unusual than the 1954-1955 Hurricane Alice. They are a "That's interesting?" moment, certainly events we will learn from, but the rest of your stuff, that they will lead to fundamental revisions of meterology or your even more outlandish idea of them being human generated are tin-foil hat material. randman, we welcome your continued postings here at EvC. It's important for folk like you and buz and Faith and WILLOWTREE to continue so that the public is constantly reminded that there is a large segment of the population that are totally incapable or reasoned or rational thought. Hey, bud, blinded by the beam in your own eye, just remember, when you point the judgemental finger at people you disagree with, those three are right back at you. It's people like you with comments like this that mess up threads and inflame controversy. Randman is right. You're impossible to work with in amiable dialog, except with likeminded members. Well jar, I would say it is important for you to post here except the public doesn't really need to be reminded that some people are liars.
