G'day mate!
I don't post much but since the occasion calls for it I thought I'd let you know that I'm an Aussie too.

Hello Buzsaw! A pleasure to talk to you, but no introductions are necessary! I know excactly who you are!
That's an odd feeling, isn't it? It's almost like meeting a group of celebrities and they introduce themselves to you as if you actually need to be told their name. "Hi, I'm Sean Connery." "Really? You're kidding?"
In my case I lurked for a good two and a half years before I registered. So, as you can imagine, by the time I finally "delurked" I knew everybody here more or less as well as they knew each other.
Anyway, welcome to the forum. Good to have you here, even if you aren't a "True Aussie"... *mumbles* Yankee accent. Just kidding.

Doesn't mean I can't be proud of my heritage, or literally half of my family that resides there.
Nah, I was just kidding. Good luck getting back out here some time.

Lucky bastard! I've seen those Spanish women.

Mind if I ask where in Australia you're from?
Townsville, North Queensland. Take a look at it on Google Earth... yuck! It looks so much nicer from the ground, heh. Seriously, there are some beautiful sights, greenery, nice beaches, etc. But that overhead must have been taken during one of our worst dry spells. Townsville is part of "The Tropical North"... that photo looks more like the Middle East.

Ha! I remember that, too. Wow, back before it was changed to Advance Australia Fair. I am so old.
This sparked my curiosity and I found Wiki's Advance Australia Fair entry. Apparently one of the songs it went up against in a vote for national anthem was Waltzing Matilda. Wish I'd been voting in that. I would have gone for Matilda, myself.

I heard they changed the National Anthem, but I never learned the new one.
Yeah, I agree with Adam Hills; the lyrics are great but they need a new tune. Have you ever seen his version at the Melbourne Comedy Festival? The lyrics of Advance Australia Fair set to the tune of Jimmy Barnes' Working Class Man. Awesome! I'd vote for that if it were made an option. Well, providing Barnsy himself performed it. Hills' performance is ok, but he's no Barnsy.
In the middle of this I managed to find that video online, if you're interested... New Australian National Anthem.
