Yes; in fact that would rather be the point, wouldn't it?

And thus they are mainly funny to bigots who share those stereotypes.

Ok, thats enough for now. Remember I mean no offense by these jokes.
Bullshit. Of course you meant to cause offense, that is what these jokes are for. Fuckwit.

That doesn't let you off the hook, Uncle Tome. Pandering to racism is pandering to racism.

Re: Pandering to Political Correctness
quote:
I'm so glad there are people like contracycle to protect us from the specter of bad humor. It says in the Constitution (somewhere in the back) that people have free speech unless they might say something that will offend someone. After all, being offended is the same as being physically attacked, except for the physical part. And the attack. Everyone knows that gays, women, and members of various ethnic minorities would gladly continue to suffer violence and discrimination as long as people would stop telling jokes about them.
Systematically dehgumanising poeple is a necessar prerequisite to the exercise of violence of against them. Seeing as we have only a few decades ago come through a global war which exhibioted large scale racist dehumanisation, there is a valid view that such systematic denigration is exactly a precursor to actual violence. The same applies to sexist discrimination.
But you are free to live in the swamp, Mr. Hambre. I will envertheless be requesting the moderators stop this board being used as a vehicle for hate speech.

By recognizing that it's racism, you recognize that there's no such thing as a superior race over another or an inferior race under another.
Then why engage in its propagation?

Re: Freedom Sucks
quote:
takes a special sort of stupidity and callousness, a superhuman ignorance, to accuse those of us who tell bad jokes of being in league with those who shove innocent people in cattle cars and ship them off to their extermination by the millions. You seem to possess just that exact measure of stupidity.
What you are referring to is "realism".
quote:
However, I can't imagine how stunted and bigoted someone has to be if he can't bear to hear views expressed that aren't absolutely identical to his own.
You mean for example, your reaction to being called on racist jokes?
I'm perfectly happy with the fact people disagree with me. I am not happy with the propagation of hate-speech.
quote:
In assuming that the only aim in telling racist or sexist jokes is to dehumanize (and later exterminate) the targets of these jokes, you are making an oversimplification so sweeping it boggles the mind.
Wrong; I am describing the actual procedural impact rather than the subjective rationalisation to which you resort.
quote:
There are those who aren't equipped to deal with the complexity of human society, and the moral intricacies of freedom of expression.
Indeed. Scum who tell racist and sexist "jokes", for example, and then patheticvally plead "its just a joke" are claearly failing to deal with the complexity of human society and the moral intricacies of freedom of expression.
quote:
In short, I guess you only support diversity as long as everyone thinks the same as you. How typical
Typical of what or whom? Yet another meaningless and contentless bash.

Ideological conservative apologetics for racism and sexism, predictable enough.

Grow up, contracycle.
Adults do not, in my experience, tell racist jokes and then plead innocence because "I didn't mean it". Now THATS fucking childish behaviour. If you wish to condone it, you're welcome to wallow in the slime but I'll not be joining you in the moral low ground.

Re: Tolerance and maturity
quote:
I'm 16.
So, you're less than half my age, you've seen fuck all of the world, you don't have a work record and you presume to give me lectures on how the world is and how it works?
Take this as a lesson, B2P: thinkig you can know what goes on in anothers head is a fools game. Making decisions or statements on that basis is even dumber.
quote:
By giving people lip you're sending out an intentionally hateful message, contrary to racist JOKES
I've never denied being an arrogant fucker, but I am an entirely equal opportunity arrogant fucker. And, racist jokes are sending out a deliberately hateful message. that is what they are for; they are not just jokes, remember, they are RACIST jokes.
quote:
Still, consider that you're condemning us for joking when you've said hurtful things too.
And as I have pointed out already, the attempt by you and others to pretend I am against jokes is a desperate attempt to evdade the issue. Having read your desperate screed of faux-victimisation, I have every reason to expect that you knew those jokes were hurtful, and that that is precisely why you told them. Your pretensions to "mere humour" are simply implausible.

Re: So here is a suggestion.
[qupte] That way if there is a letter in the sub-title (or more than one letter since a given joke might fall into several of the 26 categories) you can just skip it[/quote]
Or, how about if someone confirms to you that a certain topic will be offensive, you just not do it?
My opposition to racism is not limited to personal aesthetic distaste, and this board would still be serving as a venue for hate-speech.

Re: So here is a suggestion.

Nope. That is sily. If it is a one on one, that might be appropriate. In a public forum, it's not.
I see, jar. So in a one on one conversation, it would be have been uncool for Goebbels to make racist remarks, but when he was standing on the platform at the Nurmburg rallies, it was clearly a public forum and so it would have been wrong to consider those who might be offended.
Your position is crystal clear.
