I'm taking the rest of the day to do my normal routine, because three hours of video games is way too much for one day!(I'm an amateur, leave me alone)
X is jump, Square is shoot, and triangle is rapidfire attack for your normal weapon. Oh, and L1 and R1 swap weapons. That's pretty much it, but I've only played 1 so far so I don't know how the other ones work.

That's crazy talk.

I'm actually in favour of the normal buster. Not only does it have unlimited ammo, you can really mash out shots with it if you are close to an enemy.
And those controls were what I hoped for. Nice.

SOS!!!
I'm bumping this topic because that game is seriously pissing me off.
I've beaten Doctor Wily once per day over the past few days, and sat through the credits given no sign of saving whatsoever. I load up my game, then sure enough I can only play mega man 1 again. What gives??? Am I supposed to select a different one in New Game and it'll automatically acknowledge that I've beaten the old one?! Somebody please help sort this out.

Re: SOS!!!
If you want to play a new game you select new game from the menue instead of trying to load an old game.
Once you've beaten a game once, it keeps track of that. The save files are just for progress in the individual games. You can play any of the games from the start.
If you want to make really sure you've completed a game properly, you should see new things in the extras. I think beating MM1 unlocks some sort of demo.

Re: SOS!!!
I also found out I was wrong about finishing a game before you start a new one. I assumed "new game" meant starting a new save file. But nothing gets overwritten if you've got, say, a Megaman 3 save file going, and you start a new game of Megaman 2. (Or similar.)
Beaten 2, 3, 4, and 8 so far. Still sucking at 1.

Re: SOS!!!
I tried that, I'm finally on Megaman 2(playing in chronological order.) Unfortunately, I didn't get a demo in the extras, but I did watch the credits all the way to a (ghastly) naked megaman jumping home. Not sure that's what I wanted from beating such a freaking hard (and old) game!
(Edited in because it's courteus)
Thanks again, by the way!

Re: SOS!!!
I must say 2 is better than 1 by far, and much easier. I can't wait to settle the score with Woodman; I could never beat that prick when I'd play it at my aunt's house in 1st Grade!
Oh, and which game has Star Man and Gemini Man? I've gotta get them, too!

Re: SOS!!!
Woodman's really easy if you charge the fire shot before hitting him. You can take him down in two hits.
Starman I don't know offhand, (somewhere between 5 and 7) but Geminiman is in 3.

I feel sooooo old!!
You lot going on about what grade you were in when various games came out has made me feel so over-the-hill! Ta very much I didn't even encounter a PC until I was nearly 30!!
Anyway, I'm pretty interested in puter games and I'm absolutely crazy about Tomb Raider, even though the last one was rubbish. I just wish I was able to do a quarter of what our Lara can do. I fantasise about having dual Uzi's when I'm in the supermarket - that would clear the queues at the checkout! Oh for a Desert Eagle on the motorway (freeway to some of you).
In a couple of the Tomb Raider games (the earlier ones) when you kill a baddie, the body doesn't disappear and I have discovered in myself a worrying tendency. If he's been a baddie that has been difficult to kill and has trashed me a few times, I lose the plot. Once he's dead, I save me game, pull out the heaviest firepower I have and pump the bastard's body full of lead, grenades, rockets, whatever. Then, once I've got rid on my frustration, I reload so I haven't wasted ammo. Sad, but true.
My four year old is now hooked on Tomb Raider. Unsuitable I know, but he caught me playing it when he shoulda been in bed. He's been able to make that girl do somersaults and backflips since he was three and that's with a keyboard!

Re: SOS!!!
Thanks for the tip; I'll be sure to stomp them both when I get the chance. Feel free to ask if something in Megaman 1 is giving you grief; I beat it so many times trying to progress forward that I've pretty much got Wily's stages memorized.

Re: SOS!!!
Thanks for the offer, but I think the problem is just years of abusing the crap out of my body finally taking its toll on my reflexes. Tips can't really help with that.

This happens in counter-strike a lot, so I can assure you its entirely normal. Or, umm, "normal", possibly. Anyway, it can be a bit of compliment when someone was sufficiently frustrated by you to consider your corpse worth shooting up

Re: I feel sooooo old!!
I only played counterstrike once so I am not sure if it is like Unreal Tournament in all aspects, but in UT you had to shoot corpses as there is an option to "play dead". You could run by a guy lying on the ground and then suddenly he gets up and shoots a rocket up your butt.
