Check out the subsequent generations
I am truly amazed at how some people cannot see the current and future problems resulting from an unrestricted flow of uneducated, non-English-speaking, law-breaking people from unsuccessful cultures that have problems with corruption. If anything, I would have guessed that liberals would be opposed to the invasion of more Catholics who have a propensity for large families creating even more Catholics.
There are numerous problems with the invasion on the Southern border.
The biggest problem, IMO, is the overwhelming numbers that will require more cost from taxpayers than they contribute for mucho decades to come. We already see this in Texas with health care and education. The costs will increase with successive generations, because the illegal immigrants are predominantly high-school dropouts, and once in the USA, the second and third generations are not as hard-working and not pulling their own weight. They are not learning English, because they don't have to. There is a high proportion of out-of-wedlock births, and the single moms are on the welfare dole.
The illegals comprise many criminals, too. Drug-smuggling and organized crime is running rampant.
To say that the illegals are paying taxes is missing the point. They do not pay all types of taxes nor come close to paying a share that breaks even with the costs of health, education, social services, etc.
This has nothing to do with racism, and has everything to do with killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.
You will see the struggle to get out of recessions in the future will be harder and harder. I hope you all are saving $$$ for the future, because you will need it for you and increasing taxes.

Huh. So an individual Mexican shouldn't be allowed into the United States because he might be a criminal? And because his children might be lazy?
Go back to reading class.
I did not say that.
I did not say stop LEGAL immigration.
The whole is issue is about unchecked, unregulated invasion versus the immigration policy that is the law.
If you let anyone in, you get criminials in addition to workers.
This is a fact that doesn't seem to fit in the ears of most liberals.
The war on poverty has not made much progress. There is a saying that "poverty breeds poverty", and evidence is all over the world. It is much easier to educate and inspire a smaller number of impoverished people than a mass of them. This has nothing to do with race, either. So, we can take in a limited number, as our law has been set-up to do.
As for laziness of subsequent generations... this is not race-related either. The work-seeking immigrants are hard-working because they know poverty in a way that the USA does not. We at least have social programs for citizens that help the poor much beyond the point that the originating country supplies. Consequently, the need to work is much diminished in this country. That is why "Americans don't want to do the work that the illegal immigrants are willing to do."

we are all citizens of the world. what gives you a right to draw lines?
Because my forefathers chose to, and had the power to do so.
It is the nature man and socialization.
We gather in neighborhoods and we like to hoard things.
People who crave power will always dominate the meek.
I guess you don't have a fence around your back yard.
I do. It helps deter criminals, and keeps stray kids from drowning in my swimming pool.
Without control of our border, America will gradually sink into an average country, instead of leading the world towards a desired goal.
