Chiroptera becomes Pedantera
quote:
(1) the sun circles the earth
(2) the earth circles the sun
(3) some other reason
I hope that people realize the answer to this particular question is (3). Indeed, the sun "rises in the east", but it is not because the earth circles the sun.
(Bonus points for a precise reason.
Answer:
The earth rotates on its axis in a west to east direction.
)

Re: Let's vote on the facts?

We adopt scientific theories because of their goodness of fit, not because of their "validity". Nobody is researching the validity of the theory of gravity either, nor that of the theory of general relativity. However, any serious problem in fitting the data would be quickly noticed.
Very nice way to put it. I'll have to use this one myself.
