Re: Forum Oscars - The Rebirth?
A) Hardcore creationist
Buzsaw: The man has his beliefs and sticks to them, but seems to be open-minded enough to accept other possibilities. I think for all intents and purposes he is a fair man and believes deeply in being equitable. God has transformed his life and he serves to honor his God every chance he gets. He has a lot of character and history at EvC, and somehow it wouldn't feel like home without him.
B) Pragmatic believer
Phat loves the concept of God and I think it was there for him during some turbulent times. He's always willing to look at the how's and why's of his own faith and isn't afraid to free God from being compartmentalized.
C) Pragmatic disbeliever
Modulous is always an even-keeled, reasoned debater who tackles any issue objectively. His reasons for disbelief are valid only because he sifts through an argument carefully, not from some preconditioned and irrational hatred for all things God.
D) Rampant atheist
That'd have to be you, Straggler. You remind me a lot of Modulous in many ways. You have a great sense of humor, reasoned responses, well articulated and thought-out reasons why atheism works better than agnosticism or theism. You carefully detail your analysis and aren't moved by vain arguments.
(E) Open-minded skeptic
The fact that I honestly don't know what Percy's personal beliefs entail, only solidifies this nomination! A very mellow man who seems to have given a lot of thought to anything he says, he always is gentle with his approach and allows the facts to speak for themselves, rather than getting personal. He seems willing to listen to and analyze anything presented to him. He is not given to popular demand, but simple, unobstructed logic.
(F) A category on his own:
Legend is a legend in my book. He does not come here as often as a regular, but he and I seem to think a lot alike concerning social issues when he does. What makes him unique is that you could not categorize him as being anything other than Legend. He is one of those nuanced fellows who simply examines the evidence for what it is and isn't afraid of ruffling a few feathers.
(G) The third side of the argument
Purple Dawn is ferocious and yet gentle in her approach. She will force an opponent to stick with the argument and disallows derailments and off-topic nonsense to detract from her points. She cares not about speculation, but reasoned responses. You simply have to respect that kind of dedication.
(H) Horse rider (and dead horse flogger)
While I have someone in mind, my mother once told me, "If you have nothing good to say about someone, say nothing at all." I plead the 5th on this one.
(I) Most missed:
I miss a few people, but Mike sticks in my head. While he is still here to some degree, he doesn't come out to play as much any more. I always enjoy a good conversation with him.
