Re: Moon Landings and Creationists
quote:
In the TV program they ripped up the Moonies evidence one by one, but the Moonies had an ad hoc rationalization for every rebuttal.
What do you mean by "ad hoc"?
quote:
Man has, and probably always will, put wishful thinking ahead of rational thought.
I don't understand why one would feel passionately about man's landing on the moon.
The reasoning behind the unreplied posts are obviously because of some form of "lack of evidence". Scientific evidence is very difficult to argue against, one would probably feel better about not arguing at all. There are only a few exceptions to the rule here. Have you seen the conspiracy theory on 9/11? It's interesting, blaming not just the current administration, but many for countless "unexplainable" events. It circles to one man who makes these shows, who is to my knowledge believed to have faith in Islam. He recently talked at a school nearby, in New Paltz, New York. Which was frightening. The show aired on an no-name channel, which is local I think.
Creationists really don't deserve to be put in the spotlight for not responding to scientific evidence, when one, they are not the only ones, and two, they rarely can combat such evidence, and usually stick with faith, belief, morals, and philosophy because of this deficiency.
The above relation with the 9/11 subject and creationists is not to be read as proof for others who do not reply, but just another interesting conspiracy theory, when researched lacks evidence.
It's easier to dream, then to realize truths. Especially when those things that may seem to be truths conflict with one's belief in something that they may have a deep love for.

Thanks for giving me the oppurtunity to leech knowledge off of all you guys.

I agree. It is even harder to support what you think is truth. It is hard to admit when you may be wrong. To get back to the OP, it is easier to dream of untestable reasons why you are right and ignore the most damning evidence.
I was thinking about the world, is scientific evidence for worldly standards useless in having, in talking about, and in seeking? Ptolomy produced a webpage that I gave some thought after an email from phatboy, and I am beginning to agree that wisdom on this earth, in mathematics, in fields explaining where, or what we originated from becomes trivial when one finds that it will not matter, at all, when we die, when we finally end our journey on this planet.
Where we utilize our minds, spirits should be on what is true, what is absolutely beautiful, our relationships with the divine. Our nirvana.

Hinduism. Emancipation from ignorance and the extinction of all attachment.
