A worldwide flood should have worldwide effects so why do we not see grand canyons on all continents??

A worldwide flood could not have produced the Grand Canyon, so the point is somewhat moot. Of course, but if there had been there and it made the Grand Canyon there should be more grand canyons. The lack of them leaves a gaping hole in all of the YEC theories. Thanks for the reply!!

But a reason for why there isn't another Grand Canyon? I suppose it would be because something happened in the Grand Canyon region that didn't happen in other places (e.g., tectonics caused by the flood waters resulted in uplift of the Colorado Plateau), or the rocks were just right, or the water was channeled just right in that area Uplift has the same problem as the the Grand Canyon. Why did it not uplift anywhere else?

it was a joke. a world wide flood on earth could not possibly have caused a canyon on mars. Of course the question is where did the Martian water go. It's obvious that God decided to punish the Martians at the same time he wanted a flud on Earth, so he killed two birds with one stone.

Europa of course. The Europeans were especially sinful so God still isn't done flooding them. Well it's possible that after the earth flud god decided to use the water on Europa, but Earth will not take a back seat on sinning and needing punishment on any body. Guess it might have been a three way cusion.

I don't know, however, the same question can be asked of the mainstream interpretation. What DID cause the uplift of the Colorado Plateau? What about the Uncompahgre uplift? What about the Gunnison uplift? We have ideas, theories, all backed by data, but we weren't there. We can never be 100% certain. I took a second look at this answer and you are right, I had my mind going the other way. The problem is that the river cut through the mountain.

The answer, of course, is the same one main stream geologists give for the same question: why didn't geology create a grand canyon on every continent? Because it was a result of local conditions not found anywhere else. The structure of the rocks, the lay of the land, the water flow patterns all were different and only in this one place did God in his glory choose to create such a singular monument to his splendour. So both sides have the same problem, maybe this is one thing they might agree about. How shall we solve this, read the bible or go look for ourselves, accept scientific opinion or creation science?

Who has the better explanation for what you see? Science, the bible's just another book on the library shelf. Kept hoping a creo would stop by. thanks

This presents a problem to the creationist viewpoint since, if the canyons are all a product of the receeding waters, then how come so many have streams/rivers running thrugh them?
Because water follows gravity, so as the water ran off the land it followed the path of least resistance, so the rivers naturally followed in the path of the flood torrents. So the rivers are proof ofthe flood. If you can make it up as you go along facts will never bother you.

I'd rather not drag this thread off-topic with a response that will most likely distract other posters, thus attracting the attention of the Moose, the Cat or the Queen. I'll look at the other forums for a more suitable forum, or you can suggest one.

I'll go ya one further - if the earth is so old, shouldn't we find evidence of its age, in the form of multiple Grand Canyons, on more than one continent? Or was the Colorado river the only river in the world to have been around so long as to CARVE OUT A DITCH HUNDREDS OF FEET DEEP FOR SO MANY MILES? Uh... yeah. Doesn't it seem more likely that a single catastophic event would be responsible for the formation of a single anomaly? Please respond. There's only one Grand Canyon because that's the name we give to this particular geological feature. There are in fact many grand canyons in the world.
