You seem to entirely miss the point in regards to their involvement with the current iraq govt.Why would they want to become engaged with what they see (from their point of view) as a puppet of the US?

Who are they? you seem to be assuming that we are fighting one singular entity in iraq - I'm not sure that is the case.
