He did a lot of bad (endorsed an armed struggle involving planting bombs in restaurants; land mines on farm roads and/or at shopping malls, etc.) ; he became a better man and then something resembling a Saint as he aged. Who can't remember that wonderful day at Ellis Park when we won the Rugby World Cup and Madiba lifted that trophy?
In his older days, he and FW got the nation together. He couldn't have done it without FW. FW couldn't have done it witout him. FW is just as much of a hero. Much forgotten in the hype, though.
I remember being bombarded with those tracts everywhere as a young teenager, even though I just had a basic misunderstanding of English... I used to laugh at the name, though. I knew what jacked chick meant!
