Defending Bush on Katrina just became considerably more difficult.

And by all accounts you really should have died."

That's kinda sick.
So what does it say of democrats that a very forgetful moron runs political rings around them again and again?
Today's news has shown us that the President had complete knowledge of the devastation that Katrina would bring, and the lives that would be lost, and that he did nothing.
Your response is a smile, and a quip in praise of Bush.

Re: That's kinda sick.
Vote John Kerry to stop hurricanes.
Or perhaps "to respond effectively to crisis situations."
You see, Bush was warned ahead of time that the levees would be breached, that putting victims in the Superdome would endanger lives, and that inaction would result in thousands of deaths.
His response was to go eat cake with John McCain. He did nothing to mobilize the federal government until several days after the storm, once the damage was already done.
It's interesting that you find thousands of needless deaths funny.

Re: That's kinda sick.
FEMA is not a first responder agency. Local officials are.
And if you'll notice, the first video has Louisiana and Mississippi officials making clear to Bush that state resources are overwhelmed, and that federal assistance is required.
Bush tells them, (emphasis mine,) "I want to assure the folks at the state level that we are fully prepared to not only help you during the storm, but we will move in whatever resources and assets we have at our disposal after the storm."
And then... Bush proceeds to go enjoy a delicious slice of cake. It's not until several days after the storm that he actually gets off his ass and does something.
How many people had died in the flood by then? Or been raped and/or killed in the Superdome?
There, Governor Blanco mistakenly says there's nothing wrong with the levees.
No... in the course of updating Bush on the damage the storm had done a couple hours after it started, Governor Blanco mistakenly says that the levees had not yet been breached. Her exact words were "I think we have not breached the levee at this time."
But Bush knew they would be breached before the storm was done. His advisors had told him so before the storm started.

Re: That's kinda sick.
Ut... an edit came down the pipe while I was responding. Let's take a look at it.
Now let's take a look at your disingenuousness on this. Had this headline read, "Video shows Bush saying N.O. Levees were intact" you would be jumping up and down and bursting at the seems in your eagerness to point out Bush's obvious neglect, gross incompetance, and lack of leadership in his administration.
Whether you choose to believe me or not, I'll go ahead and assure you... had Bush said, within the first couple hours of the storm, that he didn't think the levees had yet been breached, I'd be cool with it.
Of course... that's not what happened. You're making stuff up, and predicting how I would have responded, and addressing that, rather than actually addressing what has happened.
Oh, and calling me disingenuous.
All I hear are crickets...
Yes, it was damned disingenuous of me to take the time to arrive at work and enjoy a cup of coffee before reading and responding to the article you posted.

Like I said, disinegenuous.
A hearty "nuh-uh" to you too, Tal.
