The experiment that finally convinced everyone (of any intelligence) that the earth is rotating about its axis is that of the Foucault pendulum (cf. google). Transforming to a fixed earth coordinate system does not explain away the pendulums motion. Notice also that all countries place their satellite launch centers as close to the equator as their boundaries permit to gain the momentum imparted by the spinning Earth (and launch in an easterly direction).
