Brown recalled to Washington
News on this side of the pond is that Brown is gone. Why am I not surprised?

Re: Brown recalled to Washington
Stupid question, but I have to ask it. Why? Why do they still have confidence in him? Am I being exceptionally dense? Everything I've heard and seen so far crucifies him.

Yep, think you're right about those unencumbered by living in the reality-based community".
I wonder if those of you on the other side of the Atlantic are aware of how this is being seen in the UK? I haven't personally heard a single person, be it Joe Public or politician, defend the handling of the crisis. The media all see it the same way - total cock-up. Last night we were treated to footage of troops in non-flooded, affluent areas happily spending time posing for the cameras while the reporter tried to get his head round the fact that they claimed not to have time to retrieve bodies. He failed, by the way, you could hear the disbelief and frustration in his voice.
