Those are rifles; the Navy has guns.

If Lam had said, "I am the master of the universe, god almighty" and God is, in a manner of speaking, the master of the universe, then that's a grammatical tautology.
It seems to me that "god almighty" is more a clarifying appositive than part of a tautology.
Even just in recent popular culture, a master of the universe could be a cartoon character, stock market analyst/manipulator, a game character, or Bruce.

The new hospital will be successful or not
Yes, that's a tautology.
Seems rather a false dilemma, since success is not measured so discretely either-or: thus I can imagine (in fact, observe) a world where "The new hospital will be successful or not" excludes possible (and observed) outcomes, e.g., "struggling but achieving much." The hospital statement is neither valid nor true in all possible worlds.

Re: R U being facetious young animal?
I confess to a mischievous nature on even my best days.
But picking out logical fallacies is a lot like picking nats...er, nits, checking carefully with a fine comb.
Actually, the discussion of fallacies just looked liked fun, and I wanted to join in my own merry way.

Re: R U being facetious young animal?
Fair enough. It just seems everyone is correcting my notes. I suppose they think I'm fair game, in that I lack overall-knowledge/education.
I think it's just the give-and-take context of this site (and I don't mean that as a correction), and you seem sharp enough to me.
I don't know where you stand in your education, but a quarter century ago I was a 30-year-old college freshman; I spent six years, 12 months a year, on a full-time class schedule, having the time of my life. But in the years since, none of my employment has been directly related. Some of the most intelligent, insightful people are neither academics nor academically trained; some folks think outside the box because they were never stuffed into one.
Formal education is great, but I'd rather engage a keen mind than a well-drilled one.

Lol. Thanks for sharing that. It's interesting that your employment didn't relate to the knowledge you gained. So feel free to share it here, and ignore my cranky mood.
Feh! Cranky!?
To paraphrase comments made to Dan Quayle when in debate he compared himself to John Kennedy:
Mike, I know cranky: cranky is my friend. I have worked with cranky for many years, and I can tell you one thing for sure...
Mike, you are no cranky.
I will take you up on your offer to share on that subject sometime soon, perhaps in a Coffee House thread. Gotta run.

This isn't a logical fallacy. It's just a fact about married life
Yes and yet...
just human life--no marriage required.
I have a boss who always does what I recommend against. Then it's my job to make it work.
I'm sure her gender is irrelevant
