I'll relate my experiences of Palin.
When I first heard McCain had chosen her, I thought "smart move!" As I was sure that would draw many people who wanted to vote for Hillary his way. Then I saw her first interview.... And wow was I ever wrong, I mean seriously! If a politician over here would pull an interview like that, he/she would be BUTCHERED by the media, very possibly even forced to resign because of public pressure. I'm still amazed McCain could make such a bad choice. Didn't he have lengthy interviews with the candidates BEFORE he made his choice? Surely it would've shown through that she wasn't the brightest of the lot. Further interviews she gave only strengthend that image. Still amazed at how she could ever be chosen. By the way, are there seriously people who want her to run in 2012? I hunt for the truth

Hey, don't get me wrong, kudos she did it! It takes balls to run for vice-president.
What I'm getting at here is that McCain has so many to choose from, yet he actually went: "Well, that Palin ain't half bad, let's take her"? You're telling me she was the best pick he could make? If so, then I guess the republicans are in a far deeper mess then anyone could've guessed. Or am I missing something vital in American politics? I hunt for the truth

Hey Onifre,
Apparently not.
I wouldn't dare.
I think you set that one up for a punchline. I think the problem is in assuming that McCain choose her. I think she was chosen for him.
Hmm, yes that could be a possibility. But what the ones that chose her thinking then? "Oi! let's get a daft one in there! Bet they'd never expect that! They might be so startled they'd start doing daft things themselves! And then we have 'em! Yeehaa!". Doesn't seem like a good way to run your party.
And yes there was clearly a better choice, Romney, who pundits thought would be the obvious choice. Not only for V.P. but for the presidential position too. Shit even Huckabee thought he would be chosen for V.P.. Thats the way the system works, it is important to keep us in the dark and distracted. We are not suppose to fully understand American politics, or politics in general for that matter. The thinking is that we as citizens are too stupid to know whats good for us, and the country, so we are guilded ever so gently like cattle to where they feel we should be.
That's a bit paranoid, no? Anyway....If we're not supposed to know how this works, how come you have that knowledge? You know, sometimes I tend to agree with the "citizens are too stupid to know what's good for them" bit. When I see some of the things those pollsters produce I can only wonder where they got the retards to answer their questions. Or when I see the "average Joe on the street interview" I sometimes feel like going out and kicking the first one that looks at me with the same glazed eyes a good back thrashing!
Here's a video I hope you can appreciate,
Yes, like I said, a bit paranoid, though I'm sure his intentions are noble.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_uXGCZenwY I hunt for the truth

From the debate:
quote:Bolding mine. I don't think he's talking about actually firing nukes here, I think he's merely mentioning the fact they can fire at any minute. At least that's the impression I get from reading that entire piece. I hunt for the truth

Hello again Onifre,
Unless the objective was to lose.
Losing an election is good for a party...Well, I suppose there is some truth to that, after all being in the opposition is easy, just blame everything that goes wrong on the ruling party and hey presto! you seem the sole voice of reason. And after the hate Bush is getting, it might do them good to play it like that.
I don't think they said "Oi" my Netherlands friend.
I know, and wouldn't that have to be "Dutch friend" stay of that weed man, it's damaging your brain. (I should know, after all EVERYBODY smokes pot over here )
Not at all. It should be common knowledge by now. And not just in the US, even Canada has been faulted for keeping citizens in the dark,
Well, yes, governments are supposed to let people know, but sometimes this can turn the public eye against you. People don't always like the changes, even though they are better in the long run, so keeping something under wraps isn't always a bad thing. Though a more open government also has the benefit of seeming "honest" to the people.
Government keeps public in the dark: Critics | The Star Lets keep that to ourselves.
Very well.
I'll join you, then we'll drink to our success!
Great! *Takes out two beers* Cheers mate! Edited by Huntard, : Spellings I hunt for the truth

I'm NOT a leftie, all my friends consider me a righty, and so do I.
I knew that lefties would pounce on Palin, and Evc, as shown in the replies on this thread, are no different. to trying to make Joe Biden's word mishap ("Pakistan has deployed nuclear weapons"... Okay, which country have they nuked? India? Is testing nukes near a nation, targeting a nation with nukes without firing, having severe tensions with another nation, the exact same thing as nuking them? Has Mumbai been hit? How are those Tigers and Asian Elephants there holding up to the fallout?) "Better" than palin's, its all seen here.
Biden did NOT say Pakistan nuked somebody, as pointed out by Nosyned and a bit by myself, he said "deployed" which DOES NOT mean "fired", but "ready to fire at any minute". Palin on the other hand, well, let's just say she gave me the immpression of not being the brightest one there is. That's it for now I hunt for the truth

Here's the quote again from that debate:
quote: While I think he simply meant "ready to fire at any minute", your explanation could also be true. He does indeed simply say "deployed" not "deployed against....". I hunt for the truth

May I ask why you didn't vote? Did you really think Obama was such a bad pick for your country?
