What do you know, creos do evolve after all. And I was hoping ID was an evolutionary dead end. Edited by Taz, : No reason given. I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.

Just something a little off the side. I think we have only ourselves to blame for the continuing misunderstanding of the cambrian explosion. An explosion is by definition a sudden release of energy in a short time. Ignorant people take one look at "cambrian explosion" and they get the idea that millions of species came out of no where over night. I also blame popular sci-fi movies for spreading the false pretense that evolution means a cat morphing into a dog and then morphing into a bear in a couple days. I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.

I wonder if there is some kind of annual secret creo convention where creos meet to conjure up ways to take over the world. I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.

Re: Everythings Bigger in Texas (including self-destruction)
Actually, Texas right now has the most prosperous economy in the union. Because of high oil prices, oil wells that previously weren't worth getting to are now worth getting to. I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.

Re: Everythings Bigger in Texas (including self-destruction)
Ha, don't be so pessimistic. The last estimate I heard about the wells in Texas is that they should be keeping Texan economy going nice and strong for at least another decade. I'm pretty sure by then that we'd have enough alternative sources of energy like Mexican slave labor to keep the economy going nice and strong. I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.

Re: Wumpini Picks

Yes, there are two opposing sides. Side 1: The scientific theory of evolution. side 2: The followers of the god of abraham insisting on magic and goddunit as an explanation. Hey, why not also teach the controversy between astronomy and astrology? What about chemistry and alchemy? The answer is very simple: because children are incapable of telling the difference between fact and fantasy. They gotta learn at some point that santa ain't real! I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.

Re: Positions
Wumpini writes: My position is that children should be taught the truth. My understanding was that this thread is dealing with a particular issue. That issue is that a certain group of people are proposing that “weaknesses” in the theory of evolution be placed into textbooks in Texas.
Weaknesses? Don't you mean the god of abraham? Here, permit me to reitterate what you said.

Let's try to be honest, shall we? Please stop playing dumb. It's getting quite old. I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.

Coyote writes: Who do these folks think they are fooling? The only school boards that adopt this are the ones already packed with creationists and looking to waste a couple of million dollars on a court case (after which they'll have to cook up another disguise for creationism).
Remember that these people are not interested in a scientific debate. They're more interested in a legal debate. Creationists are like the borg. Sooner or later, they will adapt well enough to go right through the legal system. I'm trying to see things your way, but I can't put my head that far up my ass.
