I know there is a closed Hovind topic about his arrest etc etc. However- I thought it might of interest to the members here to read and discuss the latest news. So far, this remains unconfirmed but over at CSE blogs (where Hovind posts via a proxy):

In the very next message Geno asks, "Solitary for 23 1/2 hours per day and sleeping on a concrete floor is not the norm in federal prisons. What rule(s) did Mr. Hovind break to earn solitary?"
In reply I would ask, "What rules did Mr. Hovind ever follow?" It is apparently going to take him some time to figure out that he can no longer do as he pleases. There are more comments about this over at Page not found | ScienceBlogs. --Percy

This message, from "The Martin Family," is priceless:

Just curious. What did he do to get solitary confinement?
We are BOG. Resistance is voltage over current. Disclaimer: Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style. He, him, and his are not intended as exclusively masculine pronouns. They may refer to either sex or to both sexes!

No one seems to know - the Panda's Thumb is watching this, and folks have speculated 1) it's SOP for new arrivals 2) it's for his own protection (from folks he preached to too much???) 3) he really, really misbehaved or 4) Evilutionist jailers are persecuting Righteous Christian Martyrs again, just like with the Apostle Paul in prison.
Your choice.

Perhaps he prefers solitary so as not to be sodomized, otherwise harmed or even murdered by other prisoners. The prisoners seem to have the capacity for considerable anarchy in American prisons from what I read and hear in the media.
Perhaps also his bed sags or he prefers a flat surface to sleep on; or if it's too warm he may prefer the cool floor. These are all iffies. I don't condone any crime. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. If he's being a pain in the arse to the guards, not cool. If he's being abused by the guards, not cool either. Hopefully more will come out. I may write him a note and see if he is able and/or willing to answer. Regardless of what's going on, I consider the man a brother in Christ and pray for him and his family. If he's done wrong this is God's chastening to a child whom he loves so as to make him a better child of God/citizen/person/Christian. If he's being persecuted, his reward will come. God knows what we don't and will make the ultimate judgement. I had a brother in law who lived and died a tax protester, evading prosecution throughout his life. He knew the legal loopholes to get by with it. He was real good in some ways, but his testimony as a Christian was deficient in some areas. He was the kind you couldn't help but like most of the time but would like to choke him on occasion. My sister divorced him for adultery and to get out from under his financial messups et al. He cheated me out of a chunk of money which was suppose to be a loan but made up for it in a car deal before he died of cancer without my asking for it. Perhaps Hovind and other tax evaders have some similar traits. That is not to suggest that Hovind was running out on his wife, but maybe other problems. God knows. They're intelligent, street smart and likeable but have some hangups when it comes to total commitment to righteousness and Biblical principles. BUZSAW B 4 U 2 C Y BUZ SAW

... so there is a real question whether any of this is true.
I'm not sure how anyone could hold any credence about anything that comes from the Hovind Cult. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Here's the webpage for the Tallahassee facility:
If these two moves actually happened, then it looks like FCI Marianna was just a way station for the eventual transfer to FCI Tallahassee, a low security facility. Since FCI Marianna is a medium security prison, Hovind might have been placed in solitary (if he really was in solitary) for his own protection. Looking at Jar's aerial view, there appears to be a large common with grass and trees surrounded by the living quarters, a track, a baseball diamond and outdoor racquetball/handball courts. The lack of tennis courts and swimming pool makes it clear that this is a facility where one does hard time. --Percy

To see the tennis courts, golf course and other facilities you must scroll to the East.

thanks for posting this link.
I livd in Tallahassee for 10 years and used to go to Tom Brown Park (Eastward from the penitenciary) with my kidds on some satuday afternoons. I also hiked in the wooded area further east with my girlfriend (now my wife). good memories...
