Hovind still alive and kickin' - evolution, that is!
I intended to keep this thread up to date with Hovind developments, but there weren't any for so long that I stopped checking in at the Hovind blog. But I checked in today and found a modest amount of news about the Hovind appeal process. Evidently an appeals brief was filed earlier this year, and in Dr. Hovind Update: August 5, 2008 it says that the prosecution response was due August 14th. There hasn't been an update since then, so we'll just have to stay tuned.
Hovind is still battling evolution from jail, see the latest at Hovind's blog, Knee-mail: Dear Textbook Author II, posted September 23rd. The textbook author and perhaps the textbook itself appear to be generic. The first blog entry on this topic was Knee-Mail to Textbook Author - Questions from the Biology Textbook from April 15th.
According to Wikipedia, Mrs. Hovind was sentenced last year to one year in prison, but she is not yet in custody. The Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator lists her as in transit, which I guess means that though she's been assigned a registration number she hasn't yet been ordered to report to prison, perhaps pending the appeals.

WorldNetDaily just ran a story retelling the Hovind saga. One thing I didn't know, Jo Hovind's sentence was for a year in a minimum security prison, she's there now.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the movies.
Resurrection Pictures has announced that it's producing Creation,
a humorous and tearful story of a high school biology teacher’s struggle to expose the lie of evolution, based on the life of creation evangelist Dr. Kent Hovind
It's being written by Ken Miller of Expelled fame.

Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the mere Abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus. -- Thomas Jefferson

True, that. It nearly makes me cry right now knowing that this dipshit will make some money off such a "documentary,' and probably even give Kent a slice of the pie.

Yeah, and I'm willing to bet that anyone who knows anything about science will find humor where it wasn't intended.

I think you mean Kevin Miller. Ken Miller is still on our side.

You're quite right, of course.
I guess it's a bit confusing, what with Kent, Ken and Kevin all in the mix.

Kevin, Kenneth, and Keith Miller
There is also a Keith Miller that has been confused with Kenneth Miller, by none other than Sylas.
Keith has the Theological Implications of an Evolving Creation article available.

Is is possible that the rumor you heard refers to the Resurrection Pictures production The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry instead? This does star Gavin MacLeod.
