Nevertheless Hovind has certainly asked for it. He could have just paid his taxes or at the least stuck to legal tax avoidance schemes. He's been refusing to pay taxes for years while raking in huge sums of cash.

You should be aware of the following facts.1) This thread only concerns Hovind's arrest and tax evasion.2) Hovind's past record, associates and current behaviour all tend to indicate guilt.3) People can follow the links back and see that your assertions bear no resemblance to the post you are supposedly replying to.4) Hovind is embarrassing even to other creationists5) While taking the classes you suggest might be useful to some people it will not persuade them to beleive Hovind. Rather the opposite

I don't know U.S. tax law, but I've seen it suggested 2-3 years jail time, unless they ignore the sentencing guidelines. Or more if they really throw the book at him and have him serve consecutive sentences.

We know what you are suggesting. You are suggesting that it is good to be a greedy liar who tries to shirk his share of the tax burden

If that's true then why did he try to defend himself by arguing that he didn't know that he was breaking the law ?

The Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. Jesus came out in favour of paying tax even to the hated Roman authorities. For many years Kent Hovind openly defied the law and refused to pay the taxes due because of his love of money. Christians should agree that the judgement is correct and that he should pay the penalty prescribed by law.

If they were definitely guilty I wouldn't. I would regard it is what they deserved. I might feel vaguely ashamed to be associated with them - even in so tenuous a way. It may please you to think that others share your faults, but it isn't so.
