Sounds like a great vacation so far.
I grew up wandering around Amish and Mennonite (Intercourse is the Home of Trojan's outboard motors and do they still have a big billboard as you come into town? ) country and the Mennonites are far more likely to use modern technology. Several of my favorite restaurants were run by Mennonite families and they used all available technology.
The biggest difference was in their attitude though, where it was quite clear that THEY used technology, and that technology did not use them.
They were also extremely adaptable when it came to planning and engineering and the Round Barns of the area are marvels in planning and using nature as a tool to make work easier.
