I've noticed an influx of rather young YECs here on the board. Is that typical? I have to wonder, where are the other kids who don't believe in anything yet, or in evolution?
What is it about young earth creationism that makes people lack humility when it comes to their own lack of knowledge? And why do they come on here sounding as if they have some scientific knowledge (e.g., asking for technical replies), then getting pissy when they can't answer any of the questions because they are 14 and don't know squat?
We should take it easy with them because they're kids and they are asking questions, but heck, it's kind of hard when they have absolutely no interest is hearing any other perspectives on the issues, nor in questioning their own beliefs.
I don't remember ever being that way...
... well, except for the time when my family was calling me "the Corrector" because I was constantly correcting their little mistakes...
Oh, that's right, they still call me that! lol

That makes sense. In the case of the 14 year olds, maybe it's the fact that they are entering high school. :confused
The reason I posted this topic was because of the similarities you noted: same age, same knowledge base, same religious leanings, and identical attitudes.
Besides, I was irked at PE for stating that it was okay for us to get technical, then come to find out he/she barely knows the basics of science...

No, I don't think it's only 14 year old Creationists that are pissy, they just happen to be the only ones on this messageboard at the moment.
PE did have it pretty rough, but in my opinion, that's not necesarily a bad thing. PE was forced to realize he/she doesn't know as much as he/she thought. (Sorry, don't know what gender PE is. :\)
I do have to say, however, that PE has really made some giant leaps forward recently and it was rather inspirational. I am hopeful that PE will actually try to learn a thing or two about how science really works.

Good points TL. Makes me look at young Creationists in a different light. I agree about treating everyone with respect, sometimes, however, it's really hard. I'll do my best.

So now we're responsible for cannibalism, huh? Well that's a new one.
