I just scanned through the comments in this thread.
I'd like to direct your attention to Michal Oard's monograph "An Ice Age caused by the Genesis Flood" 199?. This book can be interlibrary loaned if you don't want to buy it. Much of the content of his book can be found on-line in an assortment of articles. Just search for his name. I'd like to see a discussion of his points by those who take the time to read the book. Allen PS Oard was a government meterologist for 25 year (just recently retired). Allen

And, for those who don't want to bother reading the book, a precis of Oard's key points is contained in a reprint of an Origins article here (click), written by the man himself.

I just love this:
quote: JM: To which I say (again).. What flood? There is no evidence for a flood. This whole article states (matter-of-factly) that a global flood occurred and everything can be explained because of that. The problem is that no one is willing to be pinned down on the timing of the flood and the evidence for the flood. If it occurred in the Precambrian (ala Setterfield and a few others), then the Phanerozoic geologic record (especially the Pleistocene) would be fairly far removed from the ravages of the flood (even using a 10000 year interval). Until Oard can tell us when the flood happened and why we find paleosols forming during the flood, his meteorological conjectures are quite useless. Cheers Joe Meert

I think that's one of the most annoying tactics by YEC 'scientists' - mentioning the Flood as fact as if they actually had evidence of it having occurred.

quote: To Joe etc;But this part I dont think is in any different question than WHY we have not an elevated science post Croizat's notion of Ptolemic Biogeogrpahy. THIS IS WHEN most of the confusioning notions arise in my thinking about change at least. With all the fusions I cant really yet have a sense of where is before or after the various opnions on the flood whether a small one in fact as some in NY purported or that heard of in faith environments.

And not only paleosols: fossilized raindrops and mudcracks (it dried during the flood?), bioturbation (obviously the little wormies were digging through the recently laid down sediments to avoid the next series of waves, or something), etc. And of course, there's the entire post-flud clean-up ably performed by a drunken sot and his prissy family while simultaneously avoiding getting eaten by all those starving predators he had on the Ark. Etc.
