The color change was an unexpected side-effect of testing new software. There are no plans to change the board's color scheme at this time.
EvC Forum originally opened with a light blue background and black text, then went over to the dark side within a year or so after that. There were a few complaints about it at the time, but none since. Still, it would be interesting to hear how people feel about which is preferred: light background/dark text, or dark background/light text.
