Puritans fled from religious persecution who were the parents and grandparents of the Founding Fathers.
Lessee...Fleeing Puritans arrived as adults 1620 to 1650, perhaps. Founding Daddies, born no earlier than about 1710, most mre like 1740. Have we maybe a time problem here? D'ya think?
The only fear facing most black people today is the fear of being patronized to death.
My black daughter-in-law and her family would beg to differ with you here. Overt racism is alive and well in 2006 here in the US.

Re: there should be a "War on Christmas"
Hi, SP! Welcome aboard! And if you see my daughter there in Austin say "hi" for me.
Plus they all violate the Regulative Principle. What the Sam Hill is that? Something to do with clocks or high-fiber diets?

So your sect has only bishops and deacons as ministers, I presume? And do you kill witches?

Something like that. "Something like that?" I Timothy seems pretty insistent on those being the wheels at the churchhouse. And your Regulative Principle seems equally insistent on "no additions or subtractions." How "like that" are you guys? I grew up a Presbyterian preacher's kid, and I sure don't remember even a single bishop around there - except Mike Bishop lived two houses down from the church. But he was a Baptist.

Re: how like that are you guys?
Others ordinary and perpetual, as pastors, teachers, and other church-governors, and deacons. Nary a Bish in the crowd. Surely that has nothing to do with the Catholics and the Church of England having bishops, now could it? Timothy says you gotta have 'em, but the enemy sects have 'em already, so just ignore Timothy? Sorry to be such a pain about this, but I have never yet had a fundy/evangelical/etc. that rejects the office of bishop give me a reason why.

Re: there should be a "War on Christmas"
I understand how this seems like a paradox. Seems like? I think "is an insoluble paradox" is closer to the truth. And I once bought into a decent-sized slice of that huge bundle of insolubles that is Christianity...

Re: Grinch Alert!
I saw this in my local newspaper last night. The site says, "When companies use misplaced political correctness to halt the celebration of Christmas.... Who the hell is doing that, I wonder?

Re: Grinch Alert!
It's amusing, too, to look at the "Nice" list and see how many of the "nice" people are commended for having a decorated tree. I wonder if Rev. Jeffress would put that behavior on the naughty side if he were the one picking where to place comments - or does he think Spruce = Baby Jesus?

Re: Grinch Alert!
I wonder if this'd put us on the "naughty list?" So it appears from the lists on the website. Now, they haven't posted my comment there yet. Busy shopping, I guess.....
