Re: Logic 101
I have nothing to be offended about, other than the fact that you lord your conclusion over my equally valid one.
I speak the truth. I am not the truth... Christ is...
The spirit of prophecy is christ.
Prophets are despised because the hearer is offended by Christ. Don't gang up on the messanger. I thought you were my sister...
John 6:61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you?
Matthew 21:33 "Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey. 34 When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit. 35 "The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third. 36 Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way. 37 Last of all, he sent his son to them. 'They will respect my son,' he said. 38 "But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him and take his inheritance.' 39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. 40 "Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?" 41 "He will bring those wretches to a wretched end," they replied, "and he will rent the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time." 42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? 43 "Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit. 44 He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed." 45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parables, they knew he was talking about them. 46 They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.

Re: Logic 101
Rob:
I am so glad we agree.
Indeed we do.
You originally said 'lack of logic proves falsehood.' You just quoted the comment yourself:
Rob:
Logic is not enough, but the lack of it proves falsehood.
I said no, lack of logic proves invalidity. An invalid conclusion can still be true. You just quoted that comment, too:
Archer:
No, the lack of sound logic proves invalidity. [...]
An irrational conclusion may still be true.
You now acknowledge that I was correct. You admit a conclusion may be true even when the reasoning is flawed:
Rob:
So the conclusion is true (danger) as I said.
I was pointing out that the reason is flawed.
Ergo: we now agree. Lack of logic does not prove falsehood.
This is progress.
As for pantheism: I never discussed it. I mentioned it only briefly in the process of defining another term. So I don't know who you think you're debating on that subject, but it isn't me.
Basic logic first. And conversation skills.
The rest will keep.

Jesus said:
quote:
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
and
quote:
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
When people point out your errors, it isn't necessarily because they are "offended by Christ". It might be because they want to find out if the "sheep" has teeth.
Saying "Lord, Lord" doesn't make you a prophet and it doesn't make what you say "the truth".

I'm not the one who doesn't believe in truth... Truth is absolute, Because He is the truth, and He is eternal.
Jesus is Lord. Can you say that Ringo? Jesus is Lord?
1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

I can't gang up, I am only one person. I was speaking of baptism and only baptism...not prophecy, not the truth, not the messenger.
I will tell you again. You are sure that my version of baptism is an empty ritual. Does that offend me? No. You said I was offended, when I was only pointing out to you the validity of my conclusion. You now say I am offended by Christ? You are entitled to your opinion. But please don't conflate your opinion with Christ.

Non sequitur. "Absolute" and "eternal" are not the same.
I'm not the one who doesn't believe in truth...
Believing in "the truth" is not the issue - knowing the truth is. If you claim to know the absolute truth, you are an egotheist.
Jesus is Lord. Can you say that Ringo? Jesus is Lord?
What does that have to do with truth? Or pantheism?

Sayonara 101
Well, another missionary has thrown himself into the volcano after he couldn't get anyone else to do it.
And this thread is almost a wrap.
Thanks, Phat, for being such a gracious Admin. Thanks, anastasia, for the character reference. Thanks, Ringo and everyone, for sharing your thoughts. It's people like you that make a brothel a home.
Wherever you are, Rob, here's to your health. We'll leave the light on for you. Be careful out there among them English.

This is what is so frustrating...
They are absoutely the same thing, and always are!
But... lets' do some thinking here... If what you said above is true, then is it always true?
OK... now here's the thing. if you can't understand that, I don't care... I do understand it.

Well, another missionary has thrown himself into the volcano after he couldn't get anyone else to do it.
If you remember, Neo didn't jump out of the 'pile on' because he was scared. He was kickin butt! Just because he couldn't beat them, does not mean he had to let them destroy him.
Know this... You folks have had your fun with many a theist. And you've no doubt moderated some of them in you little fires. I am only stronger.
But there is no point in ministering now. I affirmed all my suspiscions. I got it out of a few of you... you don't give a damn...
You're absolute!
And in a way that's ok, because so am I...
The only difference is.. that I don't have to lie about it.
You might have 'time' on your side, but I've got eternity. You can say whatever you want and play God for a while longer. But when He returns or when your day of death comes... you won't be laughing anymore.
And the day draws near. Time may be relative... but you sure as hell can't stop it can you?
Do you know why? Because eternity transcends it! Eternity is the only 'real' reality. And it is absolute.
You see? God has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Don't be silly. Are "absolute zero" and "eternal zero" the same?
If what you said above is true, then is it always true?
Irrelevant. It only needs to be true once to prove you wrong.

It is a debate forum, Rob. You know what to expect. There are countless christian to christian sites. You want to be challenged, and you are angry at your own perceived failures.

Re: Sayonara 101a
Welcome back.
Just because he couldn't beat them, does not mean he had to let them destroy him.
Such paranoia. And here you were making so much progress.
I mean that. A couple of months ago you posted rants that were interchangeable with each other. One could lift a Rob rant out of a thread and swap it with a Rob rant in another thread and each would have been just as on-topic--NOT--in the new locale as the old one.
But in the past month your posts have been showing much more relationship to their contexts. In the past few days you have shown some ability to differentiate among the individuals you are talking to. You are beginning to see real people rather than the undifferentiated hostile mass of paranoid fantasies.
Your ability to process information and string two logical thoughts together? Street pizza. But still.
All you need to do now is maintain focus. Try in good faith to understand what people are telling you and asking you. As it is, every time you encounter something challenging, you ride off in all directions and kick up a lot sand to avoid the subject. If you're going to engage in a rational conversation, you need to stay more focused.
If you can do this, rational conversation will come next and debate can follow.
To be sure, this calls for patience on everyone's part. And it would be understandable if you were feeling nostalgia right now for your old habits. It must surely be frightening to you to realize the individuals around you are taking on more human and realistic proportions, that you sometimes agree with people you expected to have nothing in common with, and that the likelihood of your being able to share in a real dialogue with others is going up. Moments of transition like this can be very scary.
Perhaps you are made of strong stuff, as you claim. If so, you will tough it out. You clearly want to be here. But if you are too fragile and addicted to habit to continue, that's OK. These things happen.
The clock runs out on threads that reach 300 posts, you know. If we're going to continue this conversation we will need a new thread.
It's up to you.

Oh no , I loved the challenge. The fact is I dig the fight. I was made for it...
But this is not a debate forum. The minds on both sides is made up! That's what I meant when i said i got a few of them to admit it. they don't care...
This is just plain warfare! And I am still standing tall. They can go to hell if they want to. It's just not a very intelligent choice.
In fact, it's plain rediculous!
