Most amimals require a source of clean water. Brackish water can wreak havoc on the body's electrolite balance.

For grins
Let's say there were 22,000 species of animals on the Ark (I got that number somewhere and I'm certain it's conservative)in pairs, that would be 44,000 animals...lets say each animal (on average) urinated 1 fl. oz. per day (again conservative (elephants and horses, dogs and cats urinate a lot more than that, where as birds, lizards and small snakes probably urinate about that))...with 128 oz's in a gallon that would come out to about 344 gallons of urine per day times forty days...uhmmm...cypher...cypher...thats 13,760 gallons of piss...Noah must've had one huge port-a-pottie on the ark!

No problem. God had not yet created the EPA.

True but dumping it overboard means you are floating in it ... where is that fresh water source again?

Re: For grins
That's not a problem. The moon-pool and pendulum effects of the sea anchors can also be used to pump the effluent past a steam generator that runs off the excess heat of all the animals to break down the water and then condense it back to drinking water.

After all they had the technology to make iron swords, so making turbine blades is a snap ...

Re: For grins
Can`t see where an Ark-buildin`, species-ranchin`,iron-sword-makin`genius like Noah couldn`t build a flatulence-fed,methane-burnin` boiler desalinator. A big, big desalinator. Tho` the vision of a tangle of delivery hoses is a bit of a mind-boggler.

Re: For grins
heh
they would be better building a still to make distilled water for purity as there would be an offal lot of methane producing byproduct in the waters around the ark

Method
The Jews had a way to keep grape 'juice' from fermenting. Perhaps they had a way to keep water from getting yucky?
Just a thought.

You have some documentation of that? Or is it yet another assertion?
\
Not that it wouold matter because the Ark, Flood and all the animals is at best, highly exagerated anyway.

Re: Grapes
Try living in a bathtub for a week and only using the water in the tub. Think you can keep part of it clean?
The way to keep grape juice from fermenting is to drink it.

Preservation in OT times
I get pruny when I stay in the bathtub for a week
Google:
The Preservation of Grapejuice / Dr. Samuele Bacchiocchi (sp.)
(Masada is an example of the Jews' ability at preservation)
Google:
Chapter 10
Enjoy

Re: Preservation in OT times
You are not taking the "bathtub experience" to the proper level: you will be excreting in it as well as drinking it ... wrinkling would be the least of my worries.
Fermentation is caused by the natural yeast that grows on the grapes, and any method that kills the yeast would 'preserve' the grape juice, but it still tastes like grape juice. Not only that, yeast is easier to kill than bacteria and viruses, so what works on grape juice wouldn't make sewage clean enough to me to want to use.
Enjoy.
