Re: for writing formulas, especially chemical formulas ...
It would be of some value it is true. But do we need to reproduce a word processor here?
Aren't there more valuable things to do with the time taken to implement that?

Re: Case-sensitive Usernames
That is a good point though about being able to "spoof" using a case sensitive alias? Isn't it?

Help with dBCodes
The Canadian Content site that my daughter frequents has a handy feature for putting in the [ ] codes. They are listed (they could go to the right or left of the edit window. When you click on on the code is inserted at the cursor and the code selector toggles. When you click it again it puts the / end form in. I don't see any drawbacks and it might encourage better use of the available codes.

Re: Help with dBCodes -- help
I had an abortive start to helping 2 years ago. The major problem is having to fumble through a large amount of unfamiliar code to figure out what part needs the work. (Not knowing the language is a reasonably minor issue). You don't have to time to train - does anyone know enough to point out the modules that need the work for a thing like this?
It should be a very small part of the code that is actually involved with the editing.

I volunteer to try to implement one
I'm suggesting a button appearing when an admin is editing someone else's message that inserts an "OFF TOPIC!" warning.
I will try to implemnent it too as it isn't exactly urgent and should be reasonably isolated in the code.

subdomain
nosy. will be fine.
Is there, just perhaps, anything resembling documentation of the code etc.?
I'll post design suggestions in private for review when I've done that. That part, at least, shouldn't take long.
I hope you are then open to questions (which will be numerous and dumb).

LOL, I've used vi a little a long time ago. I'll figure stuff out and ask questions.
I didn't get this before I tried to log in. I'll try later.
