Question: What does the 'AM' bar function as (located under the thread name in the first section in each forum?
Suggestion: I'm sure there's a sensible reason for it but why do we have to use stuff similar to (qs) and (/qs) when other sites (eg: foc-u.co.uk) have a quote button on the 'reply' window. You highlight the text you've copied to the reply window and press Quote/Link/Bold/Underline etc. Maybe the EvC logic makes sure people only go through the trouble for stuff that's worth quoting
Ta.

That stands for "Activity Meter".

Pretty much.
Some of our messages get awfully long and have multiple quotes in them, so constantly quoting the whole message gets quite cumbersome and also wastes bandwidth.

Schraf, what does "ABE" stand for? And this sounds funny, I know, but what does "YEC" stand for? I know it refers to a creationist, but the initials?

Oh, thanks, Charles. I wonder if there is such a thing as an OEC (old earth creationist).

And if you think that's bad...
Some helpful terminology
DE = darwinian evolutionist
NDE= neo-darwinian evolutionist
DPE= directed panspermia evolutionist
HME= hopeful monster evolutionist
E-AE= evolutionist minus the abiogenesis bit evolutionist
E+AE= see above and go figure...
EIE= Evolutionary-indoctrinated evolutionist
NEIE= see above....(hint: N = Not)
FBE= Faith based evolutionist (ie: trusts rather knows the science)
RBE= Religion based evolutionist (more fundemental than the above)
CME= Close minded evolutionist. ((S)He could be wrong but won't consider that possibility...)

If you move your cursor over the text "AM" that's next to the bar itself, you should get some popup text that says "Activity Level Meter". Let me know if your browser doesn't do this.

Recruitment for EvC software development continues to be unsuccessful. This is difficult to understand given how rewarding contributing to EvC Forum's success is, and is doubtless due to the small amount of monetary remuneration offered (approximately $0). But the search goes on.

Impatience
Aha, the trick is to not expect every to happen at the speed at which I want it to happen. Pop-up takes...0.872 seconds to...er... pop up.
I was wondering about who runs these sites. Like, it seems to be a lot of work. I hope you've got auto-systems for picking up flaming posts, etc, but at times I think you guys are actually following it all. AdminAsgara pulled up a couple of lads and put the reasons for the pull up with quotes and everything. Like, there's only one other person I know who has their finger more on the pulse and He's....
...well that's anothers days post
Good weekend Percy. One last trol.. I mean trawl, then it's time for a pint.
Thanks for taking the time here and everywhere. Great site...

Thanks
This is an incredibly well run sight. I don't always agree with the decisions that admin makes but what the heck, suspensions end. The sight is well organized and I for one like the qs's for quotes.
It has been such a boon to be able to learn a lot, (I'm starting from a very low knowledge base), about science and I'm able to discuss issues of faith. It's a perfect combination and so relative to our world situation.
Besides all that it's a chance to spread my incredible wisdom around.... as my signature, which I got from a button my wife gave me, says... Everybody is Entitled to Opinion

Everybody is entitled to my opinion.

Suggestion: Time stamp
I would like to see a time stamp added to the forum page.
The idea is that if I can see that I have reloaded the page within the last few minutes, then there isn't much point in clicking "reload". If it has been a while, then I should go ahead.

Re: Suggestion: Time stamp
"Previous Session Time" replaced with "Page Loaded" at the top of all pages. "Previous Session Time" was going to go away soon, anyway.

Re: Suggestion: View last unread post
On some forums there is a button that allows you to see latest post that you have not looked at yet. It is most helpful.
Thanks for your time Percy and all the others who make this site possible. I know you are having a real effect.
