I did a search for "evolutionist" and found this forum (and I am so glad I did!) but onnthe page my search originally took me too there aere articles or links to sites listed. One of them said something to the effect of "arguments for evolution to use with Creationists" or something like that. Where do I find that?
I really need some information to back up my spongy brain on my next debate with my husband. Thanks! ETA: I just found it, thanks anyway! Edited by Dragoness, : No reason given.

Thanks for the welcome
It was the refrence library I was serching for, this one in particularNinewells – Philosophy, science, atheism, and other cool stuff. but clearly since I am so new at this I need to go research a lot of the terms before I can really get into it and thats tough with three little ones... I have a spongy brain!

My suggestion is don't debate. Debating something that you have no clear understanding of will make you look foolish, even if your opponent is your spouse. No, reading a few articles on the subject doesn't make you an expert. No, hearing people talk about it doesn't make you qualified to speak authoritatively on it. I really need some information to back up my spongy brain on my next debate with my husband. Take me for example. I blow smoke all the time and indeed it does make me look very foolish. Don't follow my example! LOL, well its something my husband and I do... debate religion. Much the way some people debate politics (we don't do that) its just a part of who we are. However, recently the debate has become more indepth so we challenged each other to do more research to make our next debate even better. He is doing the same, only on the opposite end of the coin. He believes in creation, I believe in evolution and thats just the way it is. Makes for some interesting conversations.

Well, in that case then refer him to this forum. We're starving for some fresh meat

Ohhh I don't thik he has EVER participated in an online forum. Thats what I do, i belong to many. In fact he JUST got his first laptop last night and looked at me like I was nuts when I added yahoo messenger to it, lol. I could however post a link at the moms forum I belong to, I am sure many of them will be interested on both sides of the coin here.
May I ask, how is it broken up here? 50% of each (C or E) or what?

This forum is heavily occupied by working physicists, biologists, geologists, and science enthusiasts, and that's part of the problem. Most creationists that come by with their cosmic wisdoms usually blow out hot air thinking they could scare us off with the 2 words they memorized from their high school biology text book figure out very quickly that we actually are professionals who ARE working in the fields and they just stop responding. Only a few are brave enough to stay, and most of these guys eventually turn into theistic evolutionists. See, creationists depend on the lay public to preach their anti-scientific nonsense because they know the general public are not properly trained to detect bullshit. For example, a creationist argument that just won't go away even though we've refuted it a million times already is the varying speed of light. It goes like this. The question is if the universe is only 6,000 years old, how come we can see stars that are tens of thousands of light years away? The creationist answer to this is that light in the past traveled at much faster speed than it is today. If you have taken anything close to physics 101 in college, you could demonstrate that this claim is false. But the fact remains that most people don't even know the speed of light is constant, so instead of trying to do actual science the creationists go straight to the lay public and rally support from people who don't know jack about science. Anyway, what I'm trying to say in too many words is we tend to scare off the typical creationist within the first few days, so we are now much in need of fresh creationist blood. If your husband has much to add to this debate, tell him to come and we'll see what we can do Disclaimer: Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style. Well in that case I am so glad I am here. Let it be said now, I am a STAY AT HOME MOM with NO college education. I don't know most of these fancy terms but I am willing to learn.
I'm not even sure what theistic evolutionists means (so embarrassed) but I am willing to learn. However, my husband might be willing to talk to me and I can post his words, we have done that with message boards before.

May I ask, how is it broken up here? 50% of each (C or E) or what? Only the most obstinate or dare I say 'delusional' YECs last long around here. No one can survive RAZD and lay claim to rationality at the same time unless they come to see the light. Not to mention jar or ringo, to name a few out of many. Personally, I find it quite entertaining to see people argue scripture with Arachnophilia. And that's just one resident expert. Welcome to EvC!

I'm not even sure what theistic evolutionists means You should keep another window open at wikipedia: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The search for Theistic Evolutionist is here. I consider myself on of them. Evolution is the method that god uses to create life. Wiki has almost everything you'll see here defined in it. Its great. I was raised Catholic. I have Bachelors of Science degree and work in the chemistry field. I believe in god and Jesus and that humans are special and I also realize that species evolve. Nice to meetcha You like dragons? The creationist believes that god created everything via magic, that everything poofed into existence and that the world around us is unknowable. In other words, their god resides in the gaps between knowledge. We used to not know how rain worked, so they attributed it to "goddunit". We used to not know how lightning worked, so they attributed it to "goddunit". I'm not even sure what theistic evolutionists means (so embarrassed) but I am willing to learn. But the fact is human knowledge is ever increasing. We've learned how to utilize the laws of nature to make our lives better. We've learned how to split the atom. We've put a man on the moon. We've learned how to digitize our information. In other words, we are closing in the gaps where the creationist god occupies. Theistic Evolutionists are people who believe that god is behind everything, including nature itself. Because of the overwhelming evidence for evolution, they believe that evolution is real and that god is also behind it. After all, if god is all powerful, why must he only exist within the gaps between human knowledge? Why can't he exist everywhere? By the way, there are two kinds of reply buttons. On the bottom right hand corner of my post is a little reply button. If you scroll all the way down, you will see another reply buttom name "general reply". Use the little reply buttom right under my post so it is easier for me to keep track of who you are talking to. Notice all the "this message is a reply to _____" and "replies to this message:" They're there to help us keep track of who's talking to who. If you choose not to follow procedure, $20 will automatically be charged to your credit card.
