I recently ran the anti-spyware program "Spybot", which quarantined a number of items. I also updated the anti-spyware program "Spyware Blaster".
After that, I tried the chat room (this was also the first time since the version 2.0 upgrade, which I would think would have no chatroom affect). The chatroom loaded much slower than the normal slow. Once in, the text entering was VERY slow - I'm talking approx. 5 seconds per individual character. Because of that, my most recent chatroom appearance consisted of about 3 short cryptic messages, such as "Test", "Very slow", and "Bye". Once I exited the chatroom, it seemed that the message board also operated very slow.
I can restore some or all the items that Spybot quarantined, but I thought maybe a little input from y'all first.
The types of items quarantined were:
"Alexa Related" - 1 item
"Wishbone" - 2 items
"eAcceleration" - 1 item
"EAcceleration" - 4 items
"eZula HotText" - 106 items
"Hyperlinker" - 19 items
"NewDotNet" - 13 items
There were also a few other items Spybot found but was unable to quaratine, as I understand, because they were already memory resident. Spybot asked, and I permitted, to rerun itself upon a computer restart. It went through most of the long scan process again, found a few items again, and then locked up the computer (reset required) before any quarantining could be done.
Bottom line: I really need to wipe the hard drive completely, and reinstall everything (and then keep a backup image of it all), but what a time consuming pain.
"I may be slow, but I'm not that slow" Moose
