can we change a thread title?
this thread is currently called "Genesis Flood: Forgotten, Disproved, or Under a New Alias?"
when people see the words "genesis" and "flood" together, 99% are probably thinking the story of noah, found starting in genesis 6. that is not the topic of the thread, which is about "the deep" found in the first chapter of genesis, and is more properly regarding the so-called "gap theory" which states that there is a gap between genesis 1:1 and genesis 1:2, and that there was a prior creation which then destroyed by god between the two verses.
further, i would like to suggest that there is already a thread which encompasses this topic, started by yours-truly. my thread isn't strictly on the gap theory, but was originally posted to refute another idea, but in the process addresses all of the concerns raised by gap theorists. the primary difference being that it is a theological/linguistic thread, not a scientific one. whether this new thread develops any scientific discussion still remains to be seen, however.

What would you suggest for the new title?

Re: can we change a thread title?
perhaps just swap out the "genesis flood" part for "gap theory."

Re: Gap Theory etc. - Adminnemooseus prefers to defer to opinion of another admin
This whole "Gap Theory" is outside of my realm. I would prefer that another admin more in touch with such enter an opinion and/or do any topic title change.
Perhaps because of the topic title question, the topic as a whole is terminally flawed. As such, perhaps it's best closed.
Other admins?

"in the center of the garden" thread
http://EvC Forum: In the Center of the Garden (Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life) -->EvC Forum: In the Center of the Garden (Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life)
that one. i think it's way too specific to take residence in my genesis bible study. if we just shove everything pertaining to genesis into this thread it will be a total abortion. it's meant to be a discussion of the whole book, as a whole, not every little word that might be in it. if you want to encourage discussion on this topic, don't try to squish it into the other topic.

I agree. Topic in question moved to here in the "Bible Study" forum.
One quibble - Your message should have gone to the Considerations of topic promotions from the Proposed New Topics forumConsiderations of topic promotions from the Proposed New Topics forum

somebody put the monkey in a cage please...
I just want to mention that jar almost exclusively uses the tactics of complex question logical fallacy, and the accusation of misrepresentation and motive, without often even engaging in the discussions.
These fallacies lead to continual distraction to discussing an author or poster's integrity without regard for the actual discussion.
He needs to be reminded that these tactics are not logically debatable arguments. They are fallacies. They simply distract and attack the character of the participants.
Here is a list of the times he has accused others of misrepresentation alone:

Sorry Rob, but in my defense I believe you must also acknowledge that I also support my assertions.

Re: somebody put the monkey in a cage please...
I have no doubt you believe yourself, but you only support yourself with more assertions that you believe. the mokey business must stop. I'll do my part by ignoring you. And that takes enormous self control. For that I thank god for sending you to test me...

Refpunk sprays graffiti in ERV's topic
Request for action in Message 1
Refpunk does not understand the topic and continuously posts his objections to Evolution. There are more appropriate threads him to voice his objections.
The originating author of the topic Loudmouth spent a considerable amount of care, time and effort posting this topic and it is disrespectful for refpunk to continuously ignore the topic and plow on with his uninformed objections.

ERV Topic Warning
Agreed. However others have allowed themselves to be dragged off topic.
Next off topic post is suspended for a bit.

Give Refpunk a Thread
I think Refpunk's topic should be promoted, as well.
Not because I'm feeling particularly feisty, but because when someone is rushing around dragging other threads off topic, it seems a good idea to give him one of his own, so he can get all of his obsessions off his chest without interfering with adult discussions elsewhere. It's practical.
