I haven't investigated it in any depth, but my GUESS is that the Proposed New Topic is showing up because it reused a topic number of a topic you started. I may be wrong.
When I checked just now, the second topic was at the top of your list. Maybe you were seeing an old cached version of the list? Adminnemooseus

The http://EvC Forum: Male studies URL was that of the "How, and where, does gene expression work?" topic you proposed. When it was approved, and the Proposed New Topics version was deleted, the "Male studies" PNT reused the same topic number (same URL).
See the archive index page here. Put your cursor over the above cited topic. Note the "25-000402" towards the end of the URL. That was the forum number-topic number of the proposed version. Yes Percy, PNT topic numbers are sometimes still being reused. Adminnemooseus

1) Search problems -
Percy knows more, but my short answer is - The size of the contents of the various forums are getting too large for indexing to keep updated - or perhaps the index files are getting to large - or something like that. There is a process to try to get these indexes rebuilt (a processor heavy process), but I don't know if they are effective, or if they may cause other problems. The last time I tried using it, it caused problems with the "Biological Evolution" forum - That forum would no longer accept new topics. That's why there's now the "Biological Evolution II" forum. Google is quite effective at finding things. 2) Drop down menu problem - This has been reported before. My testing shows that the situation shows up with Internet Explorer, but not Mozilla. I gotta get to bed, Adminnemooseus

the following link was posted by Bob Gray:http://EvC Forum: IC challenge: Evolve a bicycle into a motorcycle! -->EvC Forum: IC challenge: Evolve a bicycle into a motorcycle! I presume he displays 20 messages per page, and the link works for him. But I display 15 messages per page, and for me message 41 and 58 are not on the same page - So I'm not linked to message 58. I will edit the above link to become http://EvC Forum: IC challenge: Evolve a bicycle into a motorcycle! -->EvC Forum: IC challenge: Evolve a bicycle into a motorcycle!, which should work for everyone. A couple of days ago I was having the problem of not having someones message image display. I right clicked (was using Firefox) on the little blank box, and then selected "display image". This displayed the image fine. Then, when I "backed" to the message page, the image there was also displayed properly. Maybe the image was just slow loading.

See it fine. It's your layered intrusive graphic. Here is your link code again:
Still shows up fine for me (using Firefox). AM

The membership listing at the top of the page has the names persist for 30 minutes since the last activity of that name. Thus the previous alias will continue to show up for a while.
I can get the same sort of thing, if I am somehow logged in under both the minnemooseus and Adminnemooseus ID's, although they are separate ID's and not aliases. Bottom line: Not really a bug. Adminnemooseus

I've just noticed that the forum time didn't track the "set ahead 1 hour" of this past weekend.

I have left my "profile" time zone selection set to the default value of the eastern U.S. zone.
I noticed that the time zone stamp of new messages now match up with my local time, which is the central U.S. time zone, instead of being 1 hour ahead. As I see it, the forum time was not set ahead 1 hour this past Saturday night / Sunday morning. AM

Addition to previous message -
I note that Phatboy today edited message 1 of that topic, to change the topics title. Could that somehow throw a kink in the system? Adminnemooseus

I note that, as the current record sits, your most recent message at that topic is message 74.
Can you confirm that a "lost" message was posted by you, after that message 74? Or might that message 74 be the last message you posted there? As it now sits, I sure looks like Dan's message 76 overwrote your message 76. {Another oddity I just noticed (times my time settings): Message 76 is noted as being posted at 2:14 pm, in reply to message 75, noted as being posted at 2:15 pm. The reply was posted first!} - Added by edit - Scratch the bracketed; Either my eyes or my brain were playing tricks on me - AM Adminnemooseus This message has been edited by Adminnemooseus, 04-11-2005 05:09 PM

OK, here's what happened (all times U.S. eastern unless otherwise stated):
4/11/05 12:15 pm - Phatboy posts message 75. 10:18 am (U.S. mountain) = 12:18 pm - Phatboy edits message 1 to change topic title. This process throws the entire topic into some sort of wierd alternate reality for a short period of time. 12:19 pm - Chiroptera posts message 76. Unfortuately, because of the previously mentioned alternate reality, all of the information of the message was then lost to dimension X, leaving only some small trace that Chiroptera had ever posted. 2:14 pm - Dan posts, and the message is sucked into the void left by Chiroptera's departed message. Thus Dan's message becomes message 76. Adminnemooseus

See here, at bottom of message. See "Peek" version also.
Ah, heck - I'll try it right here also:
{This line should be in the size=1 font} Adminnemooseus Added by edit: Not working in this message either. It was working before. This message has been edited by Adminnemooseus, 05-08-2005 11:05 PM

I've also been having the HTML font size work correctly.
Test: {This line should be in the size 1 font} Adminnemooseus ps: Seems to be working fine here. I was having the problem in a "Private Admin Forum" topic. Just checked that one again - Still not working there.

http://EvC Forum: Analyzing Intelligent Design {a structural construction of ID theory} -->EvC Forum: Analyzing Intelligent Design {a structural construction of ID theory}
http://EvC Forum: Analyzing Intelligent Design {a structural construction of ID theory} -->EvC Forum: Analyzing Intelligent Design {a structural construction of ID theory} Sidelined has edited both to now say "Removed incomplete post", so I don't think there remains anything to look at. Both messages are replies to the same message, posted 1 minute apart. Apparently Sidelined posted the first message, and then went back via the browser "back" button (not "edit" button) to the original message creation box, to edit the content. Seemingly, doing this somehow created a glitch. Something that happens when someone posts two replies to the same message, at the same time?
