yes, you type the codes in manually. If you want to see how someone formatted a post you can use the peak mode.
The error so far in your messages is not using a closing code.

Percy, I set up Dream catcher to have buttons to insert codes. I also have html turned off and created a set of dBcodes to implement a limited set of html functions.

The recent versions allow creation of new codes that implement html is a restricted way. Mostly I just used the phpBB functions implemented in the fairly recent versions.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!
