Mark on a seperate note do you remember the discovery of Baryonyx Walkeri in the late eighties (86 I believe) in Norfolk. It was a fish eating dinosaur with a big hook like claw. I just mentioned it on another thread and know i will be asked for more detail, trouble is i was only 8 in 86 so I was wondering if you could remember anything.....

Thats ok I found it here:
http://rainbow.ldeo.columbia.edu/courses/v1001/clover16.html
"A fairly large theropod (9.5 m) was found in the Wealden of England in 1988. This theropod, Baryonyx walkeri has skull similar but more elongate than Dilophosaurus. It has a small crest in midline, but not a large double crest. It seems to be a ceratosaur. It has a very large claw on digit I of the manus, which make most sense as a defensive weapon. Its long snout and the fact that remains of fish were found in its gut suggest that it was a fish-eater."

In what form? DNA comparisons? It is very rare for genetic material to be preserved so probably not....
However what is noticeable as we observe the natural world is that the closer an organism resembles us the less genetic differences there are between us....
As the "humonoids" (sic) have morphologies that lie between human and chimpanzee (our closest genetic relatives) It would seem that the inference of a simiar genetic position (between Chimp and human) would be valid....

From your scource:
"For the first time, DNA of a premodern human has been recovered."
Answers your question if this is the first bit of viable DNA recovered the chances that they haven`t performed any other comparisons approaches unity.....

Are you saying that geneticaly speaking pens are birds?

Actually he`s taking issue with us evo`s calling creationists liars, what you posted just makes a further "creationists are liars" attack.
A better response would be a reminder that creationists have been known to post claims ranging from the general "evolution is a lie" claim to "evolution is wrong and scientists are part of a conspiracy (that presumeably lies) to hide this fact" and my personal favourite to do with radiometric dating "multiple samples are taken untill they get a "right" result, all other dates are swept under the carpet and the "right" date is published"....
These are fairly obviously allegations of lying...
Isn`t there a christian teaching along the lines of "let he who is without flaw through the first stone"?

Also Punctuated equilibrium comes into play, it works basically like this...
A small geographically and genetically isolated population (A)evolves faster than a large population where genes must take longer to reach fixation (B)...
At some point the population (A) overcomes the geographical isolation and being more evolved to suit the environment supplants the population (B)....
What we see in the fossil record unless we get very lucky and dig in the area of geographic confinement is an abrupt transition from the species that comprised population (B) and the initial population of (A) to the species which comprised the population (A) at the time of geographic breakout....
This combined with the rarity of fossilised organisms accounts for the lack of intermediary fossils....
